Outgoing Manchester City captain Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his surprise at not being offered a new deal at the club.
The Belgian announced at the beginning of April that he would leave the Etihad when his existing deal expires at the conclusion of the season.
It has not yet been decided where the 33-year-old will play his football in 2025/26.
De Bruyne joined City almost a decade ago from Wolfsburg and has since established himself as a legend at the club.
He has collected 16 trophies during his time in Manchester including six Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.
Injuries have hampered his campaign this time around but the midfielder has admitted his shock over not being offered a new contract.
De Bruyne said: "I have not had any offer the whole year, they just took a decision.
"Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I just have to accept it. Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I'm showing, but I understand clubs have to make decisions."
With his next destination still up in the air, a move to another Premier League club has not yet been ruled out. Links to various Major League Soccer outfits also continue to persist.
Whilst eyes are on next season, the Belgian still has plenty to play for with his current employers.
The Citizens find themselves in a battle to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season and host top five hopefuls Aston Villa on Tuesday.
One final trophy opportunity also awaits De Bruyne as the Citizens take on Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and Guardiola's men are 4/11 to reach the showpiece in May.
