David Benavidez's promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has suggested that the American is 'ready to go to England' to fight Callum Smith.
As confirmed by Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn just days ago, a contract offer is on the table for David Benavidez and Callum Smith to fight later on in the year.
While all of Benavidez’s last four victories have taken place in Las Vegas and promoter Sampson Lewkowicz will no doubt push for this location against Smith, he is also willing for the WBC light heavyweight champion to make the trip to the UK.
Speaking to The Ring, Lewkowicz said:
It's not easy to find the right guy to fight Benavidez. We’re also ready to go to England and fight Smith if the deal is right.

While all parties seen keen to make Benavidez v Smith happen, nothing is guaranteed in boxing, and Lewkowicz appeared receptive to the idea of fighting Anthony Yarde.
He added: “Either fight is a good fight for boxing. We'll see what happens. At this moment, there are two excellent challengers but it's not up to me, PBC or David Benavidez. It’s up to Eddie Hearn if he wants to make the deal. We’re one call away.”
A name who appears to be on the tongue of a number of fighters, Canelo Alvarez is set to face Terence Crawford in a long-awaited bout on September 13th, and Lewkowicz assessed the possibility of Benavidez fighting the Mexican.
“Canelo will never, ever fight Benavidez, regardless of the money,” Lewkowicz declared. “You can give him whatever he wants. When you bring the contract, he won’t sign. I told my team to forget about him.”
An October date has been proposed for Benavidez’s clash with Smith, with a decision expected to be made by Hearn in the coming weeks.
