Dave Allen has taken to social media to call for a clash with former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr.
Both men were in action last weekend, with Allen's clash with Thomas Carty serving as the chief support for Katie Taylor's retirement fight in Dublin.
The bout ultimately ended in bizarre circumstances in the opening round as the home favourite Carty was unable to continue after falling out of the ring at Croke Park, with the fight ultimately ruled a no contest.
Following the fight Carty called for a rematch with the 'White Rhino', though Allen was quick to put paid to the idea.
Allen has previously claimed he intends on bowing out after 40 professional fights and with that landmark fast approaching he called for a showdown with fellow Matchroom star Ruiz.
"Had a few days to think about what could be next to finish off my career," Allen captioned a mocked-up poster teasing a clash between him and Ruiz for the Sheffield Arena in 2027.
"Now I’m not saying this is possible that’s a question for Eddie [Hearn] but if it was up to me I would love this."
After an extended hiatus from competition, Ruiz returned to the ring last Saturday in his first outing since signing a multi-fight deal with Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.
Despite being the betting favourite against towering Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba, Ruiz was well beaten at the Prudential Center, surviving a seventh-round knockdown before going on to lose on points.
Ruiz is best known for stepping in on short notice to face Anthony Joshua in his US debut back in 2019.
After being knocked down in the early going he climbed off the canvas to stop Joshua in the seventh round, becoming the first person of Mexican ancestry ever to hold heavyweight gold.
