It’s been a roller-coaster professional boxing career for Dave Allen, and it seems as though he has reaped the rewards in more recent times.

After controversially falling short in a split decision loss to Johnny Fisher in December 2024, a rematch was arranged to take place at the Copper Box Arena, London.

Many felt as though justice had been served when Allen recorded a brutal TKO in round five, and he has since become a fan favourite.

He will undoubtedly be lining up future prospects, but it’s fair to say that his feet have remained on the ground since gaining more plaudits.

He spoke to talkSPORT on the future of his boxing career.

“The biggest thing is that I’ve sparred the best heavyweights in the world – (Oleksandr) Usyk, (Tyson) Fury and I’m not that good, and that’s fine. I’m fine with that. I accepted that a long time ago.

When questioned on Deontay Wilder, he stated: “Deontay Wilder isn’t what he was.

Deontay Wilder is beatable now.

“I’m realistic, I’m very realistic. I know what I can do, I know what I can’t do. On the back of that, I’m training hard and I can’t get hurt. That’s the most important thing.

“I’m earning a lot of money and I can get out of boxing healthy because I’m training hard and I’m realistic. That’s all that matters to me.”

Despite losing four of his last five boxing contests, Deontay Wilder remains one of the biggest names in boxing, and is seemingly a fight that Allen would fancy his chances in.

Most recently, he suffered a devastating TKO loss to Zhilei Zhang, with many suggesting that the best of Wilder is in the past.

Both Allen and Wilder will have to be careful in selecting opponents at this stage in their respective careers, but it’s a fight that would expectedly be welcomed by the British public.
