Luke Littler conqueror Rob Cross takes on Martin Schindler in the second round of the World Grand Prix on Wednesday night, and our resident darts expert Keith Deller MBE explains where he feels the betting value lies.
Rob Cross v Martin Schindler
Wednesday 8th October (21:15)
Rob Cross has won four of his five televised clashes against Martin Schindler and I am backing him to extend that winning record further on Wednesday night.
Both players did exceptionally well to come through testing first round matches on Monday, with Rob overcoming tournament favourite Luke Littler in an enthralling showdown, whilst Schindler saw off 'History Maker' Brendan Dolan in what was a potential banana skin opener for him.
There's no doubt that Rob will toe the oche in a more confident frame of mind given the manner of his success over Luke Litter, but he will need to be wary of an opponent who is in decent form himself - and somebody who showcased his qualities on those crucial doubles last time out.
Martin rattled home three maximums in his victory over Brendan and Rob hit two in his victory over Luke Littler, but I am backing 'Voltage' to up the power in Leicester and notch more 180s than his opponent this time around.
I also fancy Rob to come flying out of the traps, and we all know he is capable of landing those big out shots, so there, for me, appears to be some value in Rob scoring the first three-figure checkout of the match.
In terms of the match itself, well I have already backed Rob to prevail, and I fancy him to do so in relatively comfortable fashion, proving to have just a little too more composure and finishing prowess to come through three sets to one.
Odds will display when markets are live.
