There are plenty of eagerly anticipated contests to pick from in the opening round of the PDC World Championship.
My first selection is going to be for Kim Huybrechts to beat Keane Barry. While Barry will undoubtedly test Huybrechts in the final affair on night one, I expect the Belgian to have enough to come out on top.
Luke Woodhouse is set to face Lourwnce Ilagan on Monday night and, barring an upset, Woodhouse should have no problem getting over the line. For that reason, he is my second pick.
Fallon Sherrock advanced to the third round of the Worlds in 2020, and while that achievement should be commended, I don't believe she will have what it takes to overcome Ryan Meikle this time round. I have Ryan Meikle to beat Fallon Sherrock as my third selection.
Mensur Suljovic has advanced to at least the second round at the last eight time of asking at the Worlds, and I expect him to make it a ninth by claiming a victory against Matt Campbell.
Jim Long gets set to face James Hurrell on Tuesday night, and I'm surprised to see him as the outsider heading into this one. Long has been playing some terrific darts of late and I believe that he has what it takes to defeat Hurrell.
Cameron Menzies, who is heading into the Worlds in great form, is a clear favourite to beat Leonard Gates on Monday night and, in my opinion, rightly so. I believe Menzies has far too much for Gates on the big stage, and that is why he is my sixth and final pick in my PDC World Championship Round 1 accumulator.
