World No.1 Luke Humphries is top of the table after four rounds of Premier League action and he'll still be there at the end of Night 5 no matter what unfolds in Brighton.
Indeed, Cool Hand's 15-point haul leaves him so far clear of the field that he will still be in the play-off places after Night 7, even if he suffers quarter-final falls on each of the next three Thursdays.
The chances of that happening are pretty slim since Humphries is the only player in the eight-man field yet to suffer a quarter-final loss, which means Rob Cross has a massive job on his hands on Thursday.
The Hastings thrower should have the crowd on his side just along the coast at the Brighton Centre, but it's going to take more than a friendly support base to topple Humphries.
Match Double - Humphries To Win Match/Humphries Most 180s - 6/5
Life's never quite this simple, but if you needed proof that the Humphries win and most 180s Match Double is the way to go in the Brighton Centre, then look no further than last Thursday.
Cross and Humphries square off in the third quarter-final on Night 5 of the 2025 Premier League and it's a repeat of the semi-final in Exeter a week ago.
That game was tight and Humphries had to come from behind, but the world No.1 duly delivered, running out a 6-5 victor with seven 180s compared to Cross's two.
Humphries needed three ton-plus checkouts to see off Voltage, which is just as well because his finishing over the other eight legs was not quite so assured.
Cross, in contrast, despite being out-gunned in the 180s, converted five of his nine attempts at doubles to perhaps give a gloss to the scoreline.
Humphries now leads their Premier League head-to-head record 3-2 and can up that to 4-2 this week.
Cross is playing well and, hailing from just along the coast in Hastings, would hope to have a fair amount of support in the venue.
He had a couple of wins at the UK Open in Minehead - one fewer than Humphries - and has taken two titles this year already.
The 2019 Premier League runner-up won the Dutch Masters at the back end of January and a couple of weeks later prevailed at Players Championship 1 in Wigan.
His first four weeks of the Premier League campaign, however, have been fairly underwhelming.
His best performances have actually come in defeats, all by 6-5 scorelines, to Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and last week against Humphries.
Other than that he has just two wins to his name - seven fewer than Humphries - which leave him on four points, sixth in the standings.
He is averaging a maximum 180 every 5.6 legs, Humphries is averaging one every 3.0 legs.
Rob Cross Over 96.5 Average - 4/5
Humphries is averaging 99.73 in this year's Premier League - his opponents are averaging 97.5.
With two Thursday night wins and 15 points to his name, the world No.1 is clearly playing well but he is also bringing out the best in his opponents.
We know that's not unusual. The better the players, the more consistent the big scoring and, critically, the fewer scrappy legs involving messing around on doubles.
Games involving Luke Littler are exactly the same - they invite high averages from both players.
Cross averaged 98.81 in defeat to Humphries in Exeter last Thursday and it follows he should be able to clear a 96.5 bar in Brighton.
Highest Checkout Score 2-Way - Over 113.5 - 5/6
Again, if only it was this easy, but using last Thursday's game between Cross and Humphries as a guide, expect big finishes.
Humphries had a trio in 11 legs last week, including 121 and 167.
Earlier in the night Humphries had produced a 156 against Gerwyn Price, Cross a 132 show-stopper against Michael van Gerwen, so expect the spectacular once again.
