The PDC’s top performers head for Hildesheim for a Players Championship double-header in Germany and 128 arrowsmiths will battle across two days of tungsten action.
Jermaine Wattimena to win Players Championship 15 - 50/1
The Pro Tour resumes in Hildesheim for Players Championship 15 and at 50/1, Jermaine Wattimena looks a standout bet.
Big-hitters Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have declined the invitation to compete in Germany, and while top arrowsmiths Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen will be in action it could pay to look further down the market.
Wattimena has shown huge improvement over the last 12 months and the Machine Gun was already a three-time Players Championship finalist.
The Dutchman reached the final of the European Championship in October and the 37-year-old looks capable of becoming a regular title contender.
Wattimena is inside the world's top-25 performers in terms of Pro Tour averages this term and there have been some incredible displays along the way.
The Machine Gun put up an average of 107.73 when beating Darius Labanauskas in Players Championship 13 and there was a 105.93 average when he took on Nick Kenny in PC4.
Those performances indicate the level Wattimena can reach and the Dutchman could prove a handful for his Hildesheim rivals.
Callan Rydz to win Players Championship 15 - 66/1
Consistency wouldn’t be Callan Rydz’s strong point, but the Riot is a seriously talented performer and certainly carries more threat than offers of 66/1 suggest.
The Bedlington boy reached the quarter-finals of the World Championship at the turn of the year and there were some spectacular performances from the 26-year-old.
Rydz averaged 107.06 in a 3-0 rout of Romeo Grbavac under maximum pressure on the Alexandra Palace stage and the 26-year-old posted an average of 105.31 in a 4-0 hammering of Dimitri van den Bergh.
Clearly, Rydz isn’t always able to replicate those searingly good performances, but Pro Tour numbers of 85.35 have the Riot inside the world top-20 in that series this term and tournament success doesn’t look too far away.
The 26-year-old has already made a Players Championship semi-final this season, and the Riot is a Pro Tour winner, so Rydz looks capable of outrunning his odds in Germany.
Kevin Doets to win Players Championship 15 - 66/1
Kevin Doets has developed into a consistent and tough performer and the Dutchman may be able to land a blow at Players Championship 15.
The 27-year-old is certainly at the stage of his career where he can still improve and Doets is already a Pro Tour finalist.
Hawkeye has enjoyed four runs to the last eight of Players Championship events this season and those quarter-final appearances came in consecutive tournaments.
It’s clear that Doets is able to produce top-level darts on a consistent basis and the 27-year-old shouldn’t be long in claiming his breakthrough tournament success.
The former World Youth Championship semi-finalist is a arrowsmith on the rise and Doets may have his day in Hildesheim.
