Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall meet in the fourth and final quarter-final on Night 8 of the Premier League in Newcastle.
The two men are meeting for a third time in the competition this year and have a win apiece so far.
But it's Aspinall who is entitled to feel the more bullish after winning his first European Tour title at the weekend, when he stormed through the field at the European Darts Trophy in Gottingen, Germany.
Nathan Aspinall to win @ 13/8
Third takes on sixth at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle as Van Gerwen seeks to cement his place in the top four by seeing off Aspinall in the quarter-finals.
MVG has certainly been a model of consistency throughout the tournament thus far, with only one quarter-final loss in the previous seven weeks of action.
He has failed to win any of the Thursday mini-leagues, but his ability to pick up points is what has put him in such a decent position on 13 points as we approach the halfway point.
Aspinall, in contrast, has lost four times in the quarters but has also reached two finals - one more than the Green Machine - to sit sixth in the standings on eight points, four outside the top four.
It is too early to panic for The Asp, but barren weeks are going to be costly right now and he knows he could do with points on Tyneside to keep Van Gerwen and fourth-placed Gerwyn Price in his sights.
He knows he can beat Van Gerwen, having done so in Dublin on Night 3, a 6-3 triumph in the semis.
The Dutchman returned the favour, however, three Thursdays later with a 6-4 success over the Englishman in the quarter-finals.
Mighty Mike comes into the contest as a strong favourite and threw well last week in Cardiff to see off Luke Humphries and Chris Dobey before succumbing - as most do these days - to Luke Littler in the final. It was Littler who saw off Aspinall in the quarters.
Van Gerwen then travelled to Germany for the European Darts Masters, the second European Tour event of the year, and saw off classy trio Niko Springer, Gian van Veen and Price before surprisingly going down to Ryan Joyce in the semis.
And he has that disappointing result in him these days, far more than when he was in his world-dominating pomp.
Aspinall, meanwhile, was in the other half of the draw in Gottingen and beat Ritchie Edhouse, Jermaine Wattimena, Humphries and Gary Anderson before beating Joyce 8-4 in the final.
The Asp, who has been battling health and throw issues for a while now, looks liberated again and, with his tail up heading to Tyneside, also over-priced.
Under 5.5 Match 180s @ 1/1
There was nothing remarkable in the accumulation of 180s in the first two meetings between these two stars and their third encounter may well produce the same outcome.
When Aspinall beat Van Gerwen 6-3 on Night 3 they produced five 180s; when the tables were turned on Night 6 with MVG winning 6-4, they managed another five.
Both men average a maximum every 3.2 legs, so the 1/1 that there are under 5.5 match maxes looks better value than the 8/11 that there are six or more.
3-Dart Match Average - Michael van Gerwen less than 97.5 @ 5/6
Van Gerwen averaged 93.21 when he lost to Aspinall last month and 95.13 when he beat him this month.
Only two of Aspinall's seven previous quarter-final opponents have produced an average over 97.5 in those matches against him, unsurprisingly Humphries and Littler.
There is a stop-start element to Aspinall's matches with his constant regripping and steps back, which perhaps isn't conducive to sky-high averages.
