Two weeks into the 2025 Premier League and Luke Littler has hardened to 13/10 favourite to retain the title he won last May - and it looks like he's going to take some stopping.
The Nuke suffered a first-hurdle fall in Belfast on Night 1 but recovered his poise to see off Rob Cross, Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries in Glasgow last Thursday to claim his first title since being crowned world champion in the first week of January.
He is second in the table on five points, three behind his great rival, and those two look nailed-on for the play-offs in May, even at this early stage.
But it's a world-class field and Littler will face his challenges, and he's potentially got one on Night 3 at the 3Arena in Dublin against Gerwyn Price.
Gerwyn Price +1.5 - 5/4
Price, the former rugby player turned darts world champion, has never shied away from a fight - and he knows he has one in Dublin on Thursday night.
Gezzy takes on world champion Luke Littler in the second of four quarter-finals at the 3Arena in Dublin, and at 12/5 to win it his chances haven't been chalked up as overly promising.
But Price is a fighter, enjoys his scraps with Littler and can push the world champion all the way.
Price and Littler have met this season and it was the Welshman who prevailed, coming out on top in a Players Championship quarter-final in Wigan just over a week ago. Price went on to win that event.
That victory demonstrated to Price that the appetite for success is back and a couple of days later he produced a decent bit of work on the second night of the Premier League.
Despite getting a terrible reception from the Scottish fans and clearly letting it affect his performance, he beat Nathan Aspinall 6-4 with a trio of ton-plus checkouts, and then took a 4-2 lead over Luke Humphries in the semis only for the world No.1 to reel off four straight legs to go through.
But it was another promising effort from the Iceman, a player who beat Littler in one of their three meetings at last year's Premier League.
Price should get a better-behaved crowd in Dublin and there is no reason why he can't test the young superstar.
Gerwyn Price Over 96.5 Average - 10/11
The overall average of the four players who have played Littler during the first two weeks of the new Premier League campaign, equals 99.5.
Littler brings out the best in his opponents and, because he is quite so good, gets involved in hardly any scrappy legs.
Price averaged 102.3 when he beat The Nuke 6-5 in Players Championship 2 last week and can easily clear the 95.5 bar for his average in Dublin.
Bet Builder - No Bull Finish/L Littler Most 180s - 17/10
Try a Bet Builder double for the Price-Littler showdown which pays out at 17/10.
The first component is No Bull Finish in the match. Littler does enjoy going for the big fish, the 170 finish on the bull, but doesn't always need to. There are rarely many shots at the bull in a game and obviously very much fewer hits.
Stick that in a double with Littler to hit the most 180s.
Littler has managed 17 maximums in 41 legs - one every 2.4 legs. Price has managed eight in 30, or one every 3.8.
