Welshman Gerwyn Price was in sparkling form as he claimed the Premier League week three prize in Dublin last week, beating Luke Humphries in the semi-finals, and he should be charged for their quarter-final in Exeter on Thursday.
Gerwyn Price +1.5 legs on handicap - 5/6
Gerwyn Price’s confidence could hardly be higher as he heads into the fourth week of this year’s Premier League and there looks every chance the Welshman can give world number one Luke Humphries at least a real run for his money in Thursday’s Exeter get-together.
Price came out on top at last week’s gathering in Dublin, when he beat world champion Luke Littler in the quarter-final and then saw off Humphries before beating Nathan Aspinall in the final.
Those results came after reaching the final in the World Series event in Bahrain and a Players Championship success, so as he prepares for this battle of the top two, he will know he can come out on top.
His 6-3 win over Humphries will have been particularly deflating for the 2024 world champion, who was beaten in six of the last seven legs as Price displayed some superb finishing which included a 170 checkout.
While Humphries, who beat Price 6-4 in Glasgow in week two having won the final in Belfast the week before, may be able to do enough to get over the line and gain his revenge, it looks like it could be an entertaining and drawn-out contest.
Consequently, it is worth backing Price to gain at least five legs in the best-of-11 showdown.
Gerwyn Price to have highest checkout - 6/5
Price found his finishing touch in his storming finish to last week’s game against Humphries and there looks a strong chance he can build on that.
As well as his maximum checkout in that clash, Price also knocked in a 116 and a 120, while he has also posted a three-figure finish in five of his six 2025 Premier League outings.
There may be legs where he has a deficit to make up and the opportunity could be there for big finishes, and with Humphries having highest finishes of 85, 57 and 60 in his last three matches, it could be worth chancing that Price comes out on top in this particular market in their Devon showdown.
Bet Builder: Over 9.5 legs & two or more 100+ finishes - 3/1
A protracted and exciting clash looks possible in Exeter and that provides a Bet Builder opportunity.
Price came out ahead in a nine-leg affair last week, but that could be eclipsed this time as it looks difficult to separate these two, who are battling it out at the top of the Premier League table.
Humphries will be anxious to recover from last week’s defeat, so go for over 9.5 legs in the match, while there could be two or more 100+ finishes between the players in the clash.
Price has made at least one in five of his six matches so far while Humphries has posted at least one in four of his eight contests.
