The European Tour events continue on the PDC darts circuit this weekend with the Flanders Darts Trophy from Belgium.
The action starts on Friday afternoon with 16 first-round matches, then there are eight second-round contests on Saturday, before a blockbuster Sunday comprising the third round, quarter-finals, semis and final.
Michael van Gerwen To Win Outright (each-way) - 8/1
The second half of 2023 was glorious for Luke Humphries, who won the World Grand Prix, the Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship Finals, before becoming world champion at Alexandra Palace in the first week of January this year.
Humphries is shaping as though he may be ready for another spell of dominance, having won the World Cup and the World Matchplay this summer, but being in the same half of the draw as Luke Littler is obviously problematic.
Michael van Gerwen has not been having a wonderful season by his extremely high standards, but the Dutchman will be sensing an opportunity for silverware in the Flanders Darts Trophy.
With Littler and Humphries both housed in the opposite half of the draw, Van Gerwen, 8/1 for victory, will expect to get to the final in Antwerp. Gabriel Clemens or Martin Lukeman will be waiting for Van Gerwen in round two.
Mighty Mike will be a strong favourite for every match he plays until the semi-finals, where Gerwyn Price is a potential opponent.
Dimitri van den Bergh, the local hero, is also in the opposite half of the draw to Van Gerwen, so the World Matchplay runner-up has an outstanding chance of success.
Gerwyn Price To Win Outright (each-way) - 8/1
Gerwyn Price will also be pleased that the Lukes, Littler and Humphries, are not his problem until a potential final against one of them. Van Gerwen and Price will be licking their lips at the Flanders draw, fancying their chances in the early rounds.
Price will probably have Luke Woodhouse as his round-two opponent. Price won the Australian Darts Masters in fine style last month, beating Littler 8-1 in the final, so the Welshman knows his A-game is close. He will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing effort in the New Zealand Darts Masters.
Punters may struggle to pick between Van Gerwen and Price, who are both available at 8/1 for Flanders glory. Each-way terms of a half the odds for the final are on offer, so backing both men may be a sensible tactic.
Josh Rock To Win Outright (each-way) - 18/1
Punters seeking bigger odds than those next to the names of Van Gerwen and Price should consider Josh Rock, who has been threatening to realise his vast potential. The Northern Irishman starred for his country in the World Cup, then won a Players Championship title in Milton Keynes.
Rock is a 23-year-old growing in self-belief and he will be the potential quarter-final opponent that Price will be hoping to avoid.
