Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld will have the home crowd right behind them at this weekend's Dutch Darts Championship in Rosmalen.
The two former world champions are part of a sizeable Dutch contingent striving for glory on home soil in the seventh of 13 European Tour events being staged by the PDC.
As well as a £30,000 winner’s cheque up for grabs there are also precious points to be picked up in the race to qualify for the year-ending European Championship.
The 16 seeds, headed by Dave Chisnall and featuring the likes of Gerwyn Price and Van Gerwen, take to the stage in round two on Saturday and the tournament is played to a finish on Sunday.
Van Gerwen, a prolific European Tour winner down the years, is 4/1, but so soon after Thursday night’s Premier League finals this could be a weekend to swerve the Green Machine.
Ritchie Edhouse each-way - 33/1
Big names are missing, among them world champion Luke Humphries, rising star and two-time European Tour winner Luke Littler, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross.
That offers plenty of scope for some unlikely names to emerge, with Ritchie Edhouse one name to very definitely have on your shortlist.
The Englishman was only drafted into the field on Thursday as a late replacement and takes on Czech hopeful Jiri Brejcha in round one. Win that and No.2 seed Damon Heta lies in wait.
Edhouse, a 33/1 shot, is having a fantastic year having already reached the quarter-finals of two European events, the International Darts Open and the Baltic Sea Open.
A former Dutch Darts Championship semi-finalist, he has beaten Cross twice this year and also won matches against Smith, Aspinall and Jonny Clayton.
In short, he has never thrown better on tour and on a weekend like this, where the field isn’t the strongest, someone like Edhouse should be ready to take the next step.
Ryan Searle each-way - 20/1
Englishman Ryan Searle is seeded No.8 in Rosmalen, which spares him a first-round game.
When he toes the oche on Saturday in round two, Heavy Metal will be taking on either James Wade or Finland’s Teemu Harju.
Searle is enjoying a decent year, one that started off spectacularly with three finals appearances in the first three Players Championship events of the campaign.
He won the third of those, a fourth successive year in which he has picked up a floor title and now he has his eyes set on a European Tour triumph.
Over the previous seven years Searle had reached four quarter-finals - this year alone he has reached three in just seven events.
Searle saw off Humphries en route to the last eight of the Belgian Open, had a tournament average of 99 reaching the quarters of the International Darts Open.
Then at the most recent ET event, the Baltic Sea Open, he again produced impressive numbers in reaching the latter stages.
Searle has been hugely consistent for a few years now, has overcome a dip and would surely be looking at this event as one where he can land his biggest blow so far.
