Ancient Wisdom is the 6/5 favourite to land the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York on Thursday afternoon.
The three-year-old Godolphin colt will make his seasonal return for Charlie Appleby this week, with champion jockey William Buick on board once again following a successful 2023.
The son of Dubawi enjoyed a fine juvenile campaign as he won four of his five races, including the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket and the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster last time out.
With the Derby seemingly wide open following City of Troy's poor display in the 2000 Guineas earlier this month, victory at York could see Ancient Wisdom jostle for favouritism with stablemate Arabian Crown.
He faces some stern opposition on the second day of the Dante Festival, however, with Aidan O'Brien looking for his first win in the race since 2010 with Cambridge.
Other contenders include Al Musmak, who is also preparing for his first outing of the season, and Caviar Heights, who was an impressive winner of the Listed Newmarket Stakes a fortnight ago.
