We analyse the profile and credentials of Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker as the Brit gets set to put his prized IBF heavyweight world title on the line for a second time in Saudi Arabia on Saturday 22nd February 2025.
As recently as 2023, harsher critics would have referred to a fight between Jospeh Parker and Dubois as a has-been against a never-was.
However, in recent years, both men have rehabilitated their reputations and each has a case to be considered the in-form man of the heavyweight division, behind only Oleksandr Usyk.
On 22nd February, the run of victories will come to an end for one of the boxers as ‘DDD’ defends his IBF belt against the New Zealander in Saudi Arabia.
Dubois has three consecutive impressive victories, defeating Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, but Parker may provide his stiffest test to date.
Parker has looked good defeating Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, but Dubois is considerably younger and fresher than the aforementioned duo. The former WBO champion will have to be at his best if he is to capture another world title.
Who will prevail?
Before we find out, let’s look at the 'Tale of the Tape'.

After unsuccessfully challenging Oleksandr Usyk for the unified heavyweight titles, in 2023, it appeared that Daniel Dubois was destined to be a fringe contender: someone who would lose to the best, but stop the rest.
That is of course unless you subscribed to the theory that a low blow ‘Dynamite’ struck the champion with was in fact a legal punch – it was not.
At this stage, ‘DDD’ had been stopped by Usyk, not famed for his power, particularly at heavyweight, and outboxed by Joe Joyce, a man famed for brawling.
However, the 27-year-old has emphatically silenced his critics by racking up the three best wins of his career consecutively.
First, he weathered the storm against Jarrell Miller, eventually getting the American out of there to answer concerns about his heart and desire.
Then, the Londoner overcame the odds to win the IBF belt by dominating Filip Hrgovic. Dubois could not miss with the right hand and forced the referee to halt the fight on the advice of the doctor with the Croatian cut over both eyes.
In September, Dubois’ redemption arc was complete as he dropped Anthony Joshua four times en route to a fifth-round stoppage win.
Is Dubois’ fairytale about to come to an end, or is this merely the beginning? Only time will tell.

Despite having previously held the WBO heavyweight title, it appeared that Jospeh Parker’s time as a force in the land of giants had come to an end when he was bludgeoned by Joe Joyce in 2022.
A lacklustre display against Jack Massey the following year did nothing to dispel such beliefs.
However, after two high-profile wins, the New Zealander appears to be rejuvenated.
Against Deontay Wilder, the 33-year-old exposed the limitations of the ‘Bronze Bomber’ by getting in and out of range and simply not being a stationary target for the devastating right hand.
It was a measured showing from the former champion as he handled Wilder with greater ease than Tyson Fury in any of their three battles.
The rich vein of form continued against Zhilei Zhang as Parker deployed similar tactics, but did have to recover from two knockdowns.
As impressive as those victories were, Wilder was in his late 30s, while Zhang was 40.
The real test of Parker’s improvement will come against Dubois who is young and hungry.
It is possible that ‘DDD’ will attempt to follow the blueprint set out by Joyce. It will be intriguing to see if Parker and Andy Lee can come up with an answer for the power and athleticism of the champion.
