Our resident boxing insider Rob Tebbutt provides his best bets for Saturday night's European & WBC Silver super-lightweight titles affair between unbeaten British star Dalton Smith and Walid Ouizza.
Dalton Smith faces Walid Ouizza in Nottingham this weekend, with the unbeaten super-lightweight within touching distance of a shot at world honours at 140lbs.
After scoring the best win of his career last time out, a fifth-round stoppage win over Mexico’s Jose Zepeda, Smith enters Saturday’s contest as a formidable favourite, and I’m expecting him to do a job on the largely-untested Ouizza.
There isn’t much footage of Ouizza, but from what I’ve seen, he is extremely limited.
He boxes with a high guard, leaving his body exposed and is very sloppy technically, so, in short, he should be cannon fodder for a talent like Smith.
Smith isn’t one to rush his work and he’s been out of the ring since last March, but Ouizza is a poor opponent and one who is fortunate to be contesting the European title.
I like the look of Smith to get the job done in the middle rounds, but also wouldn’t be surprised to see it go early.
