Even with the bigger events pretty much done for the holiday season, there are still some matches to be played in the European Pro League and the ESL Challenger Series.
The 43rd season of the ESL Challenger League has not disappointed. The field has been cut down as the teams in this match-up are part of the final upper-bracket quarterfinal match. The slate is light with only one match on the schedule for Monday. This match is important though as both Spirit and Sprout still have a chance to win the whole event.
Both events have plenty of other matches still to be determined in the days to come. The ESL Challenger League hasn't disappointed so far. Monday's match shouldn't disappoint either.
Looking at the one match on the schedule for the CS:GO European Pro League, Viperio and Case Esports will be trying to stay alive in that event. Here is a look at some of the matches on Monday.
What: Case Esports v Viperio, European Pro League
Where: Europe
When: Monday 12th December
How to watch: CS:GO Twitch Channel
Odds: Case 4/6, Viperio 11/10
Case Esports and Viperio meet up in a quarterfinal match in the European Pro League. This is a surprising place for Viperio to be as they finished the Group stage at 1-2 in Group A. They were lucky they even made the playoffs. As for Case Esports they won Group D with a 2-1 record.
Viperio may have been the worst seeded team in the playoffs, but they have proven they belong. They were able to eliminate allStars Gaming who went 2-1 in Group B. They won that first-round match with a 2-0 victory. Viperio won on Ancient 16-9, then finished the match off on Vertigo in overtime with a 22-20 win.
Case Esports come in off a first-round bye, as they were able to win their Group. Case won their first match against Apeks.R 2-0. They then won 2-0 against Ungent. Their third match in Group D was against BeyondP, and they were shocked in a 2-1 defeat. Their downfall maps were Ancient and Mirage.
Both teams have a chance to make some noise, but Viperio are in a tough spot, as they were the last team into the playoff field. However, they have proved the doubters wrong once already.
They have pretty good odds at 11/10 to win this match with Case. Yet Case has been tough to beat in this League. Case at 4/6 is the right move for this match-up.
What: Spirit v Sprout, ESL Challenger League
Where: Europe
When: Monday 12th December
How to watch: CS:GO Twitch Channel
Odds: Spirit (-1.5) 11/8, Sprout (+1.5) 8/15
It has been another great ESL Challenger League season, and the two teams meeting up in this upper-bracket semifinal match know each other well. Spirit and Sprout have faced each other on plenty of occasions.
The winner of this match-up will advance to the upper-semifinal match with FTW. The loser drops to the lower bracket for a match with Permitta, as a defeat here doesn't eliminate the loser yet. No matter who gets the win, both teams have proven to be worth something in this League.
Esports: Call of Duty Major One qualifiers
The most recent was a match at IEM Rio Major 2022. That match saw Spirit win convincingly on Vertigo 16-8 and then on Nuke 16-9. Robert 'Patsi' Isyanov and Boris 'magixx" Vorobiev were both able to reach the 40-kill mark in that match. They couldn't stop Zyphon from hitting the 50-kill mark as he was the top overall player in that match.
Zyphon won't be the only player that Spirit must keep in check. Staehr has been the most consistent player for Sprout since that meeting. Sprout will be tasked with stopping w0nderful as well as he is averaging 0.76 kills per round and has a rating of 1.24 right now.
Sprout have lost four of their last six matches overall. As for Team Spirit they have been on a good streak with wins in three of their last four matches against top level competition. That includes wins against this same Sprout team, Team Liquid and HEET. Their most recent loss was against Heroic. Sprout have been busy playing in other leagues outside of the ESL Challenger League.
They might not be on the top of their game for this match-up which expects Spirit to cover -1.5 at 11/8.
