Somerset head into this year's T20 Blast as the defending champions, and while there's a case for them retaining their crown, there are a few challengers that look ready to launch their bid for domestic glory.
The T20 Blast is an ultra-competitive tournament, with 13 of the 18 teams that line up in the competition this season having already lifted the trophy.
Plenty of teams will see themselves as contenders as a result of what looks set to be a frantic summer of action, culminating on Finals Day on September 14.
Somerset to win outright - 15/2
Somerset lifted the T20 Blast title last season after a dramatic 14-run win over Essex in the final, with an impressive catch from Tom Kohler-Cadmore sealing the victory.
The defending champions will have to overcome a difficult precedent if they want to keep their title; no team has ever won the T20 Blast in back-to-back seasons.
Somerset have reached Finals Day in the last three seasons, though, so are undoubtedly to be feared, and they were runners-up to Kent in 2021.
All teams to reach Finals Day last term, Essex, Hampshire, Somerset and Surrey, were from the South Group so the North will have to improve their performance levels.
Somerset have lost their top wicket-taker from last season, Matt Henry, however, and they may struggle to replace his 31 wickets, although Australian Riley Meredith has been signed with the intention of doing so.
Nottinghamshire to win outright - 6/1
Surrey's dominance of English cricket in recent years means that they will always be a short price for a tournament such as this. However, they have eight previous Finals Day appearances and have only won the event once, in its inaugural 2003 edition, suggesting odds of 13/2 are a tad short.
Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks and Reece Topley will all be absent early on as they feature for England at the T20 World Cup, meaning the likes of Jason Roy, Ollie Pope and Tom Curran will have to step up.
Nottinghamshire took the title in 2020, and they have signed a pair of exciting international pace options for this year's edition, Ben Lister and Fazalhaq Farooqi.
Alex Hales' big hitting will be key, and Notts could benefit from being in the North Group, which looks like the weaker of the two.
Essex to win outright - 7/1
Essex were unlucky to lose a low-scoring final last season but could get immediate compensation in this year's tournament.
Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams has returned for a third stint after winning tournament MVP last season, and he could be crucial. He led the team in both runs scored and wickets taken.
The signing of Jordan Cox to replace Dan Lawrence looks shrewd, and all-rounders Paul Walter, Matt Critchley, and Simon Harmer give the team a good balance.
In Kohler-Cadmore, they have a fine player, and they should be less decimated than most by the removal of players during the season. The 7/1 about Essex winning the T20 Blast looks fair.
Durham to win outright - 25/1
In a North Group that looks weaker than the South, there is a case to be made for Durham having a major say at a big price.
They landed Zimbabwe's domestic T20 competition earlier this year and have added Ben Dwarshuis and Ashton Turner to provide some class.
Nathan Sowter was the top spinner in the Blast last season with 24 wickets while the additions of Colin Ackermann and Callum Parkinson from Leicestershire look shrewd.
Durham have impressed on their return to the top flight of the County Championship and could transfer that form to this competition, odds of 12/1 for them to win the group stand out.
