Pakistan were runners-up at the T20 World Cup two years ago but they made a miserable start to this year's tournament on Thursday, losing via a Super Over against tournament hosts USA.
And now they must turn their attention to their toughest match of the group stage against arch rivals India, who have beaten the Men in Green in eight of the previous 12 T20 meetings between the sides.
India themselves are fresh from an eight-wicket demolition of Ireland on Wednesday and they are 2/5 shots to win their second match against Pakistan, who are 2/1.
Jasprit Bumrah top match bowler - 10/3
Although their batsmen were by no means poor in their tournament opener, it was all about India's bowlers in the thrashing of Ireland and they could star again in this clash with Pakistan.
India bowled Ireland out for only 96 in their opener with Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah impressing in particular, taking a total of seven wickets between them.
Bumrah finished with figures of 2-6, suffocating the Irish batsmen with an economy rate of just 2.00.
He was consequently named player of the match and has taken at least two wickets in four of his last six T20 internationals.
Bumrah raises his game for occasions like this and is worth a bet to be the top match bowler given the deficiencies in Pakistan's batting line-up and should face minimal competition from the opposition bowlers in that market.
Babar Azam top Pakistan runscorer - 9/4
Pakistan's line-up is riddled with out-of-form batsmen but Babar Azam is not one of them.
Despite his side's recent struggles, skipper Azam has still lead by example with the bat.
In the team's surprise Super Over loss to the USA, Azam made 44 during the regular innings, while he scored 32 and 36 in his team's two matches against England in May.
Before that he struck a fluent 75 against Ireland in Dublin and he will be out to prove a point after he was dismissed for a duck against rivals India in Melbourne at the 2022 T20 World Cup.
At 9/4, he is a value bet to be Pakistan's top runscorer.
Under 302.5 match runs - 5/6
With the likes of Azam and the T20 World Cup's all-time leading runscorer Virat Kohli on display, it would be fair to assume this match will be a high-scoring one.
But under 302.5 match runs could actually yield a profit at 5/6.
The outcome of this market could largely depend on who bats first but there is every chance India could win this match without a big score.
Pakistan lost seven wickets against the USA in their tournament opener and were bowled out for only 157 by England in their final warm-up contest.
It could be a one-sided battle between the Pakistan top order and a vibrant India attack, who bowled out Ireland for only 96 runs last time out and reduced Bangladesh to 122-9 in their only warm-up contest.
This match will take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York and there have been concerns over the state of the drop-in pitches, which have had a fair amount of unpredictable bounce.
It has created a testing environment for batters but has been a bit of a haven for bowlers and that also points towards a low-scoring tussle between these two rivals.
