New Zealand Women v England Women series: Tips, Predictions and Odds

England Women embark on an eight-game white-ball tour of New Zealand in the early hours of Monday morning with the first of five T20 internationals.

The University Oval in Dunedin is the venue for the opening contest, for which Jon Lewis's tourists will be without four key players due to their Women's Premier League commitments.

Sophie Ecclestone, the world's top-ranked T20 bowler, star all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt, Alice Capsey and Danni Wyatt will miss the first three T20 matches, leaving captain Heather Knight with a slightly experimental side for the opening exchanges.

New Zealand Women v England Women betting tips and predictions

New Zealand Women to win - 13/8

There is no doubt that England will be weaker without their WPL contingent in the opening three matches of their tour to New Zealand, so a chance is taken on the White Ferns taking a 1-0 lead in Dunedin.

England have dominated this rivalry since the first T20 between the sides in Hove almost 20 years ago, winning 23 of their 30 20-over encounters.

Their last tour to New Zealand in March 2021 yielded a 3-0 T20 series success, but New Zealand have certainly been building in stature in the intervening three years.

The White Ferns are ranked fourth in the world behind all-conquering Australia, England and India, and they finished third at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, thrashing a full-strength England side in the Bronze medal match at Edgbaston.

New Zealand are also affected by the recent WPL, which only reached its conclusion on Sunday, with stars Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr unavailable for Monday's first contest.

However, they are not as impacted as England and things could be much tighter than the odds imply.

Maia Bouchier top England Women runscorer - 15/4

The absence of Danni Wyatt, Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt, three key players in England's top five in T20s, should allow another tourist to star in Dunedin.

Maia Bouchier has long been heralded as the heir apparent to Sciver-Brunt and the all-rounder, who plays for the Southern Brave in the Women's Hundred, could showcase her talents in New Zealand over the coming weeks.

Bouchier has yet to set the world alight on the international stage, but a strike-rate of 119 in T20s and 137 in Women's ODIs hints at her ability. As does a blistering 95 from 65 balls in an ODI against Sri Lanka at Leicester, where she opened the batting.

The 25-year-old featured just once on England's tough tour to India in December but was awarded her first ECB central contract in the same month, highlighting just how important England believe she will be in the next few years.

Bouchier had a relatively successful stint in the Women's Big Bash with Melbourne Stars at the end of last year and there is definitely more to come with the bat from such a talented individual.

Suzie Bates top New Zealand Women runscorer - 5/2

New Zealand captain Suzie Bates is a legend of women's cricket and a veteran of over 309 international matches.

Bates has plundered 14 international centuries (13 in ODIs and one in T20s) and her averages of 41.40 in the 50-over arena and 30.05 in T20s stack up extremely favourably.

In the absence of Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine, New Zealand will lean on their skipper again in Dunedin and there seems to be no reason why she shouldn't lead from the front at the University Oval.

Bates cracked 46 from just 32 balls in a tour game against England A last week, following on from a decent run of form in New Zealand's domestic one-day competition for Otago.
