South Africa v India: Prediction, Tips and Odds

The cream has well and truly risen to the top at this year's T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean with unbeaten pair South Africa and India set to battle it out for the trophy on Saturday.

Having lost their previous seven World Cup semi-finals in any format, South Africa snapped that streak with a crushing nine-wicket win over Afghanistan last time out and they can look forward to a first ever final.

India, meanwhile, are looking to win the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007, when they were crowned champions of the inaugural event.

South Africa v India betting tips and predictions

South Africa to win - 13/8

Both South Africa and India are out to make history in one way or another on Saturday but it could be said that the Proteas want this a little bit more.

Labeled chokers in the past for their inability to reach finals, South Africa have already cleared one hurdle on their way to shedding that tag and they have never had a better shot at World Cup glory.

They were exceptional in their semi-final against Afghanistan, bowling out their opponents for just 56 of 11.5 overs and, even accounting for the fact the Afghans were first to face the testing pitch, it is a result which should have boosted South Africa's confidence.

That was their eighth straight win in the tournament and they have strength throughout the team.

Veteran Quinton de Kock has struck 204 runs and is ably supported by the likes of Reeza Hendricks, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, while their bowling department is also stacked with quality.

Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shamsi have taken a combined 36 wickets in the tournament and will again be key in the final.

India have not done a lot wrong either and have excelled despite underwhelming performances from Virat Kohli.

Few teams have adapted to conditions better with their pacemen excelling in New York and spinners coming to the fore in the Caribbean and their added experience rightly makes them favourites.

But there is not a lot between these sides and there is arguably less between them than the prices suggest, so the value pick is for South Africa to defeat India and win their first ever T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav - India - Top Batter - 4/1

Those inclined to have a wager related to India should look at Suryakumar Yadav to be the team's top batter.

Rohit Sharma leads the way in runs scored for India in this tournament with 248 but Yadav is not far behind on 196.

And Yadav, who is fresh from a knock of 47 against England on Thursday, has thrived in recent meetings with South Africa, scoring 100, 56 and 68 in the last three encounters between the sides.

Tabraiz Shamsi to take over 1.5 wickets - 7/4

South Africa's pace bowlers are crucial to their chances of success but so too is variation and that is something which left-arm spinner Shamsi brings to the party.

The pitch at the Kensington Oval can be conducive to spin and depending on the match conditions, Shamsi looks primed to take advantage against India.

Shamsi was devastating in his team's semi-final thrashing of Afghanistan, finishing with figures of 3-6 off just 1.5 overs as he mopped up the tail.

His bowling will face a sterner examination against India but at 7/4 he is nonetheless a good wager to take at least two wickets for South Africa in the final.
