India v England: Tips, Predictions and Odds

England won the first Test of their five-match series in India, but the hosts have fought back impressively to take an unassailable 3-1 lead going into the final game in Dharamsala.

Rohit Sharma's men had to dig deep for their five-wicket victory in Ranchi last time out, as England were in a strong position before being bowled out for 145 in their second innings.

Ben Stokes' side are 5/2 to finish the series with a win in Dharamsala, a stunning venue in the foothills of the Himalayas, with fast bowler Mark Wood back in the England XI in place of Ollie Robinson.

Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, the leading wicket-taker in the series with 20 scalps in his first four Tests, should have a big role to play, while India's attack is strengthened by the return of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

The paceman was rested for the fourth Test, but he tormented England's batters in the first three matches, claiming 17 wickets at an average of just 13.64.

India v England betting predictions

England to have 1st Innings Lead - 11/5

England's batters endured a brutal tour of India in 2021, when they were bowled out for 134, 164, 112, 81, 205 and 135 in the final three matches, but they have fared better this time around.

Ollie Pope's second-innings 196 set up a memorable win in the first Test in Hyderabad and England have posted first-innings totals of 253, 319 and 353 in the next three matches.

They made strong starts in the second and third Tests, reaching 114-1 in Visakhapatnam and 182-1 in Rajkot, and Joe Root's unbeaten 122 helped them recover from 112-5 to pass 350 in Ranchi.

England looked set for a substantial advantage in the fourth Test when they reduced India to 177-7 in reply before wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel's 90 dragged India to 307.

There is pressure on an inexperienced India middle-order, with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul still absent, and England should be backed to take a first-innings lead for the second game running.

Shubman Gill - India Top 1st Innings Batter - 9/2

Shubman Gill is a devastating short-format batter, but he showcased a different side of his game in the fourth Test, steering India to victory in an awkward run-chase with an unbeaten 52 off 124 balls.

Gill had to work hard for his runs before cracking two sixes off Shoaib Bashir as India closed in on their target and it could be a significant innings for India's number three.

He suffered a bout of illness shortly before last year's World Cup and has taken time to get back to his best form.

The classy right-hander made a crucial second-innings century in Vizag, scoring 104 out of 255, and he was on course for another ton in Rajkot before being run out for 91.

Gill's knocks of 38 and 52 not out in testing conditions in Ranchi provided a further confidence boost and, with the series victory assured, he could bat with greater freedom in the first innings in Dharamsala.

Zak Crawley over 65.5 performance points - 5/6

England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley have provided the tourists with some flying starts in the first four Tests and Crawley is their leading batter with 328 runs at an average of 41.

His runs have come at a healthy strike-rate of just under 70 per 100 balls and he should be backed to amass 66 or more performance points in the final Test.

The market awards one point per run scored in the match and Crawley's runs tallies in the series have been 51, 149, 26 and 102.

He top-scored with 60 in England's second innings of 145 in the fourth Test in Ranchi and, while he is yet to take a catch - worth 10 points in the performance market - in the series, he had pouched 50 in 39 matches before this tour.
