India v England third T20I betting tips and predictions

England to win - 7/4

England have made a disappointing start to their first series under new white-ball coach Brendon McCullum but they look a big price to upset hosts India in Tuesday's third T20I.

The tourists need a victory in Rajkot to keep the five-match series alive after a crushing defeat in Kolkata and a tense two-wicket loss in Chennai.

England were not at the races in the series opener at Eden Gardens, where India chased down a target of 133 with 43 balls to spare.

However, the second game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was far more competitive and India were on the ropes until brilliant youngster Tilak Varma revived their run-chase with an unbeaten 72.

The T20 world champions had been reduced to 78-5 and 126-7 chasing 166 for victory and England have named an unchanged team for the third T20I.

Brydon Carse made an instant impact in Chennai, cracking 31 off 17 balls before taking 3-29, and he joins Jofra Archer and Mark Wood in an exciting pace attack.

All six bowlers used by England captain Jos Buttler in the second game claimed at least one wicket and the tourists are capable of beating India, especially if openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett can survive the new ball.

Salt and Duckett have been dismissed for nought, four, four and three in the first two games but both are destructive batters once they get going.

Salt had a spectacular campaign for IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders last year while Duckett arrived in India after an impressive Big Bash spell with Melbourne Stars.

If they can lay a foundation for England's dangerous middle-order then Buttler's men will have a decent chance of making up for their near-miss in Chennai.

Suryakumar Yadav India top batter - 3/1

Last year's retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from T20 internationals opened the door for some fresh faces in the Indian batting line-up.

Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma have all played dazzling innings in recent series against Bangladesh, South Africa and England.

However, the threat posed by captain Suryakumar Yadav should not be underrated and he could take centre stage after a quiet start to the series.

Suryakumar was dismissed for a duck in Kolkata and 12 in Chennai, where he hit three boundaries off the first six balls he faced.

His last T20I innings in Rajkot was a stunning unbeaten 112 from 51 balls against Sri Lanka in January 2023 and he looks a good bet to top-score for the hosts.

The man nicknamed SKY has a superb T20I record, scoring 21 fifties and four centuries in 76 innings, and his career-best effort of 117 came against England at Trent Bridge in July 2022.

Jamie Smith to hit most sixes for England - 9/2

With all-rounder Jacob Bethell sidelined by illness, Jamie Smith came into the England team for the second T20I and he has retained his place after a bright cameo with the bat.

Smith, England's Test wicketkeeper, is a superb striker of the ball in white-ball cricket and his 22 from 12 balls in Chennai included sixes off spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma.

That was the Surrey man's T20I debut but he has great pedigree in the 20-over format, hitting 24 maximums in just eight T20 Blast innings for his county last summer.

Smith has also cleared the ropes 15 times in his first 15 Test innings and he is an appealing bet to hit the most sixes for England in Rajkot.
