Shubman Gill to be India top batter - 10/3

India are 2-0 up in their three-match ODI series against England, having already claimed a comfortable 4-1 victory in the T20 series between the sides.

There should be no let-up in intensity from the hosts in Wednesday's final match of the series as they continue their preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy, which gets under way next week.

India are favourites to win the eight-team 50-over tournament, held in Pakistan and Dubai, while England could do with a morale-boosting victory after a tough tour.

They have lost six of their first seven matches under new white-ball coach Brendon McCullum and India opener Shubman Gill can inspire the home side to a 3-0 series clean sweep.

Gill, like many of India's batsmen, had a miserable 2024/25 Test series in Australia but he has returned to international action in fine style.

He was named player of the match in the first ODI against England, top-scoring with 87 in a four-wicket win in Nagpur, and also batted fluently in Sunday's second game.

Veteran skipper Rohit Sharma stole the show with an excellent century but opening partner Gill made 60 from just 52 deliveries in a flying start to India's run-chase.

Gill has played some fabulous IPL innings for Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where he cracked an unbeaten 126 from just 63 balls in a T20 international against New Zealand in 2023.

He also scored a century against Australia in his last Test innings at the venue and he can lead India's charge with the bat on Wednesday. 

England to make highest first 15 overs score - 13/10

India's openers set up victory in the second ODI but England have failed to capitalise on the fast starts given to them by Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in this series.

England's scores of 98 and 99 from the first 15 overs in the first two games were eclipsed by India's 111 and 114, although the hosts had the significant advantage of batting second.

After six overs of each innings in the first ODI, England led 52-25 and they were still six runs ahead at the 10-over mark, so they look a tempting bet to make a faster start in the third game.

Salt, a star of Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL triumph last season, has licence to attack the new ball while Duckett has scored 71, 95, 32, eight, 63, 107, 32 and 65 in his last eight ODI innings.

An injury to all-rounder Jacob Bethell may force a reshuffle with the hard-hitting Tom Banton coming in at number three to add to the firepower at the top of England's order.

England to hit over 5.5 sixes - 4/5

England do not have great memories of Ahmedabad, where they suffered comprehensive defeats to New Zealand and Australia at the 2023 World Cup.

However, they hit six sixes in each of those losses and are worth backing to clear the ropes at least six times on Wednesday.

McCullum's cricketing ethos is built on aggressive batting and opener Salt hit three sixes off Harshit Rana in the sixth over of the first ODI.

Liam Livingstone struck two maximums before being run out in the second game while Harry Brook, captain Jos Buttler and all-rounders Jamie Overton and Brydon Carse are also capable of contributing to the sixes tally.
