Sydney Thunder to win - 13/10

Hobart Hurricanes are one of two Big Bash franchises yet to win the competition but they are favourites to break their duck in Monday's final at their home ground, the Bellerive Oval.

The Hurricanes started their 2024/25 campaign in dismal fashion as they were skittled for 74 by Melbourne Renegades but they have bounced back in style.

They topped the regular-season table, winning seven of their last eight completed matches, and sealed their spot in the final with a 12-run Qualifier victory over Sydney Sixers.

At the prices, though, Sydney Thunder are worth backing to upset the favourites, having displayed great character in their first season under David Warner's captaincy.

The Thunder finished bottom of the standings in 2023/24 and this season they lost two key players – batter Cameron Bancroft and explosive all-rounder Daniel Sams – after a sickening collision in the field.

Veteran opener Warner has led by example and he tops the Big Bash batting chart with 357 runs from 11 innings.

However, the Thunder are far from a one-man team, as they proved in tense play-off wins over Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers when Warner contributed nought and 11.

England international Sam Billings played a couple of crucial hands in those games, scoring 24 and 42 not out, and fast bowlers Wes Agar and Nathan McAndrew have the potential to strike with the new ball, putting Hobart's powerful batting unit under pressure.

Nathan McAndrew to take over 1.5 wickets - 13/8

Sydney Thunder have been forced into plenty of personnel changes during their campaign and 42-year-old assistant coach Dan Christian is in their squad for the final after coming out of retirement.

Seamer Nathan McAndrew is another unlikely hero for the Thunder. He was given an opportunity midway through the season and has played a starring role during the play-offs.

McAndrew was player of the match in the Eliminator against the Stars, taking 5-16 and showcasing his threat at various stages of the innings.

He dismissed the Stars openers inside his first two overs, returned to get rid of dangerous middle-order man Hilton Cartwright and wrapped up the victory by claiming the last two wickets.

The 31-year-old saw off Sixers opener Jack Edwards in the third over of Friday's Challenger and steered his side home in the run-chase, smashing an unbeaten 19 from just seven balls.

That cameo with the bat should have boosted McAndrew's confidence coming into the final and he also impressed in his final league-stage appearance against Perth Scorchers.

He took 2-21 from 3.2 overs against the Scorchers and is an eye-catching price to pick up at least two wickets against the Hurricanes.

Tom Andrews to hit most sixes for Sydney Thunder - 10/1

Hobart Hurricanes have two of the top four six-hitters in this season's Big Bash, Mitchell Owen and Tim David, but Sydney Thunder have been less prolific in that department.

Warner is their leading six-hitter with a modest tally of seven so it may pay to go for an outsider in the market on which Thunder batter will hit most maximums.

Tom Andrews, expected to come in at number nine, has batted in only three of his last six appearances but he has made an impact in all three innings.

He struck one maximum in a six-ball 13 against Brisbane Heat and three in a stunning 37 not out off 13 deliveries against the Scorchers.

Andrews was his side's leading six-hitter in that game and he dead-heated with Matthew Gilkes and Oliver Davies in the market in Wednesday's Eliminator win against the Stars.
