Hampshire Hawks vs Surrey Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

Hampshire Hawks and Surrey were both involved in T20 Blast thrillers last time out and Tuesday's South Group clash at the Rose Bowl could be another cracker.

Hampshire shared a rain-affected tie with Middlesex on Friday while Surrey's Chris Jordan hit a four off the final ball of the innings to seal a dramatic six-wicket win over Kent.

Both teams have won three of their first five matches and both are aiming to boost their qualification hopes with a vital victory on the south coast.

Hampshire Hawks vs Surrey Prediction

Best Bet: Toby Albert to be Hampshire top batter @ 9/2

After a run of low scores in the County Championship, Hampshire's Toby Albert has relished the switch to T20 cricket and he is an eye-catching price to top-score against Surrey.

Albert's first two T20 Blast innings at the Rose Bowl this summer were 54 off 34 balls against Essex and 73 not out in a low-scoring win over defending champions Gloucestershire.

His unbeaten 28 helped the Hawks to a rain-affected victory over Surrey at The Oval on 5th June and he can make another significant contribution on Tuesday.

James Milton explains:

Toby Albert has impressed with the bat in Hampshire's T20 Blast home games this season and, batting in the top three, he looks a tempting bet to top-score for the hosts.

Hampshire Hawks vs Surrey Bet Builder Tip

  • Hampshire to win

  • Dewald Brevis 1+ six

  • Scott Currie 2+ wickets

Pays 11/2

Hampshire had lost 10 of their previous 11 Blast meetings with Surrey before this month's win at The Oval but their well-balanced bowling attack can fire them to another victory over the south Londoners.

South Africa batter Dewald Brevis hit 17 sixes in just six innings for Chennai Super Kings in this season's IPL and he has been similarly destructive for Hampshire.

Complete the Bet Builder by backing Hampshire's Scott Currie to take two or more wickets as he claimed 3-20, 2-19 and 1-19 in his first three games at the Rose Bowl.

James Milton adds:

Hampshire can make the most of home advantage to complete a quickfire double over Surrey. Fast bowler Scott Currie took 2-17 in four overs in the away win and he can shine alongside hard-hitting South Africa international Dewald Brevis.

Tactics, Form and Team News

Hampshire welcomed back spinning all-rounder Liam Dawson from England duty for last week's game against Middlesex, in which Lhuan-dre Pretorius enjoyed a memorable Hawks debut.

The South Africa A wicketkeeper-batter smashed 44 not out off 22 balls and should open with skipper James Vince, meaning the in-form Toby Albert will bat at three.

Batters Ali Orr and Tom Prest were left on the bench for Friday's match, along with England A fast bowler Eddie Jack and Scotland international Brad Wheal.

Expected Hampshire Hawks lineup:

1 Lhuan-dre Pretorius (wk), 2 James Vince (c), 3 Toby Albert, 4 Joe Weatherley, 5 Dewald Brevis, 6 James Fuller, 7 Benny Howell, 8 Liam Dawson, 9 Chris Wood, 10 Scott Currie, 11 John Turner

Will Jacks batted at number seven for England in their ODI and T20 series wins over the West Indies but he returned to the top of the Surrey order against Kent.

Fast bowler Reece Topley is building up his match fitness but Gus Atkinson remains sidelined and Ollie Pope and Jamie Smith are preparing for England's Test series against India.

Surrey's side is still packed with international experience as Jacks, Dom Sibley, Jason Roy, Chris Jordan and the Curran brothers, Sam and Tom, have all played for England.

New Zealand's white-ball captain Mitchell Santner is in fine form, taking 3-28 and 2-24 with his left-arm spin in the home and away fixtures against Kent.

Expected Surrey lineup:

1 Will Jacks, 2 Dom Sibley, 3 Jason Roy, 4 Sam Curran (c), 5 Laurie Evans (wk), 6 Tom Curran, 7 Mitchell Santner, 8 Chris Jordan, 9 Ollie Sykes, 10 Nathan Smith, 11 Dan Worrall
