England Women v New Zealand Women 1st T20I betting tips and predictions

Sophie Ecclestone - England - Top Bowler - 13/5

England won all three of their 50-over games against New Zealand in the recent ODI series, with the first two secured in comfortable style.

The visitors made the third game a close run thing after putting up a total of 211-8, which England chased down for the loss of five wickets and with 20 balls to spare.

Star bowler Sophie Ecclestone was rested for that final match but she is likely to return to the starting lineup for this 1st T20I in Southampton.

The left-armer is one of the world’s best T20 bowlers and has a tremendous record against these opponents.

Ecclestone had figures of 2-28 and 5-25 from the two games that she did play in the 50-over series and she could be a persistent thorn in the side of New Zealand once again here.

She has taken 13 wickets in her last four games for England and can be her team’s top wicket taker in this clash.

Maia Bouchier over 19.5 runs - 5/6

Maia Bouchier was the star of England’s 50-over series win over New Zealand, being given the Player of the Series award after racking up 186 runs from the three games.

That included an unbeaten century so the 25-year-old is clearly in good nick coming into these T20I matches.

Bouchier originally started out as a T20 specialist for England before graduating to the 50-over side so she is clearly comfortable in this format.

The opener made her debut against these opponents in 2021, making 25 from 24 balls, and she is fancied to go over 20 runs again in this clash.

She fell just one short of that total in the last game of the ODI series but had cleared the figure in her previous three appearances for England before that.

New Zealand’s bowling attack struggled to contain England in the three 50-over clashes, taking just eight wickets across those three games.

Bouchier was a key part in that, and averaging 24.73 in T20I cricket and being in such fine form of late, it’s not hard to see her passing 20 runs again in this game.

Nat Scriver-Brunt over 30 runs - 6/5

England’s younger players came to the fore in their 50-over series win over these opponents but if they are to have success throughout the year into the T20 World Cup, they will need big contributions from their veterans.

Nat Scriver-Brunt provided one in the final game of the series with an unbeaten score of 76 to guide her side to victory.

The all-rounder has now ended her last three innings for England without being dismissed and has recorded a total of at least 30 in three of her last five knocks for her country.

The 31-year-old averages 27.21 in this format of the game but after impressing against this New Zealand bowling attack in the series that has just gone, she is fancied to go over 30 runs in this game.

Side with Scriver-Brunt to provide another crucial innings for her country in a game that England look likely to win.
