England Tour of West Indies: Dates, venues, England squad, history and more

England's white-ball team will tour the Caribbean in October and November with three ODI matches and five IT20 fixtures against the West Indies.

Salvaging a draw in their IT20 series against Australia in September, England succumbed to a 3-2 defeat in the five ODI matches that followed, with the Aussies prevailing in a rain-affected concluding clash in Bristol.

Four months on from their semi-final defeat to India at the T20 World Cup in Guyana, England return to the Caribbean looking to avenge their series defeats to the West Indies last year in both the 20-over and 50-over formats.

England squad for tour of West Indies

Liam Livingstone will deputise as captain of the ODI squad in the absence of Jos Buttler, who will miss all three one-day internationals with a calf injury.

Buttler remains in the IT20 squad as skipper, with the Lancashire wicketkeeper hopeful he'll have completed his recovery in time for the first Twenty20 fixture in Barbados.

Selected in place of Buttler in the ODI squad is the uncapped Michael Pepper, who was Essex's leading run-scorer in this year's Vitality Blast, striking 535 runs from 13 innings.

Yorkshire leg-spinner Jafer Chohan earned his maiden call-up and will shadow the experienced Adil Rashid and all-rounder Will Jacks in the spin department.

John Turner and Dan Mousley were both unused in September's white-ball series against Australia and will be looking to make their debuts.

Two members of the Test team are expected to join the white-ball squad in the Caribbean, with a decision set to be made following selection for the third Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

West Indies v England white-ball history

England's last white-ball visit to the West Indies resulted in a 2-1 defeat in the ODI series and 3-2 loss in the IT20 series.

The visitors had restored parity in the IT20 series at 2-2 by posting their highest-ever T20 total, with Phil Salt's 119 powering England to 267-3. They were unable to take that momentum into the closing encounter, however, as the West Indies sealed victory with four balls to spare.

England edge the head-to-head record in one-day internationals, winning 53 to the West Indies' 46. Of those 53 victories, 18 have been won in the Caribbean, while the Windies have won 25 matches against England on home soil.

As for T20, it's the West Indies who have fared better, winning 17 of 30 encounters. England were triumphant in their last fixture in the format as Salt's 87 helped his side to inflict an eight-wicket thrashing in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.

England will be looking for their first ODI series success in the West Indies since March 2017, while their latest IT20 series triumph in the region was more recent, winning 3-0 in March 2019.
