England v Pakistan fourth T20I: Prediction, Tips and Odds

England host Pakistan in the fourth T20 international of their tune-up series for the T20 World Cup on Thursday but match practice will be more important than the result after two of the first three games were washed out.

An England win or another no-result would give the home team a series victory but Pakistan can share the spoils with an Oval success. Seam bowlers for both teams could make their mark in likely overcast conditions.

England v Pakistan fourth T20I betting tips and predictions

Reece Topley over 1.5 match wickets - 5/4

With rain and overcast conditions in the forecast for Thursday evening it may be best to steer clear of betting on the match outcome or too many numerical markets for this contest, but one bet that may not need long to hit is England bowler Reece Topley claiming two or more wickets.

The Oval has a reputation as being a batters' paradise and also a venue where spinners can make their mark, but neither of those comments have been the case in matches at the London venue so far this season.

Surrey's overseas seamers have prospered in County Championship matches at the venue with Kemar Roach and Dan Worrall both bagging six-wicket hauls already and the in-form Topley should enjoy the likely conditions.

He took three wickets at Edgbaston in the only match that has been played in the series so far and will be looking to press his case for a place in the T20 World Cup line-up having missed the 2022 T20 World Cup triumph with an ankle injury and suffering broken a finger during last year's 50-over World Cup after claiming eight wickets in his first three matches.

Topley should have a good chance of striking at either end of the Pakistan innings having taken six wickets in three T20 matches against the West Indies in December and can be fancied to claim at least two victims on Thursday.

Fakhar Zaman - Pakistan Top Batter - 5/1

Team top batter and bowler markets are smart targets when there is a chance of the match being shortened, rather than aiming for any run or wicket milestones, and Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman looks a fair value bet at 5/1 to repeat his achievement from Edgbaston of top-scoring for his side.

Zaman bats fourth in the order, away from the initial blast of England's opening bowlers and was able to go on the offensive after his team were reduced to 14-2 after 3.3 overs on Saturday.

The 34-year-old left-hander smashed 45 off just 21 balls with five fours and three sixes and showed a willingness to get on with things while skipper Babar Azam struggled to keep pace - making 32 off 26 balls.

Openers Mohammad Rizwan (who was out for a duck at Edgbaston) and Saim Ayub (2) will both be most vulnerable again at the top of the order, offering Zaman the chance to impress once more. He hit 78 off 40 balls against Ireland in his previous appearance and seems to be seeing the ball really well.

Shaheen Shah Afridi - Pakistan Top Bowler - 9/4

Shaheen Shah Afridi has reportedly turned down the vice-captaincy of Pakistan at the T20 World Cup, having previously been stripped of the 20-over captaincy, but the off-field arguments don't appear to have affected his performances.

Afridi claimed the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan at Edgbaston and took seven wickets in three matches against Ireland earlier this month.

He has claimed at least three wickets in five of his last seven T20 internationals and looks the biggest threat to the home side again.
