There has been a more even contest between bat and ball in the early weeks of this term and backing under 21.5 sixes looks a decent bet when Delhi Capitals host Rajasthan Royals.

The Capitals won their first four matches before Sunday's 12-run defeat to Mumbai Indians, in their first home fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Just 17 sixes were hit, 10 of them by visitors Mumbai, and the resurgent Karun Nair was the only Delhi batsman to find his groove, scoring 89 off 40 balls.

Nair struck five of Delhi's seven maximums on Sunday and the form of Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has been dismissed for one, 38, nought, seven and nought this season, is a concern for the Capitals.

Rajasthan are lacking confidence after suffering four defeats in their first six matches, including comprehensive losses to Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last two.

Their batting unit looks decent on paper, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel backed up by West Indies international Shimron Hetmyer.

However, the Royals lost the sixes battle 9-8 against Gujarat and 9-5 against RCB, who chased down 174 for the loss of only one wicket, and they may struggle to cut loose in Delhi.

Axar Patel to be Delhi Capitals top batter - 14/1

Despite their strong start to the season, Delhi have suffered some top-order collapses so captain Axar Patel is an eye-catching price to be their top batter.

The Capitals slipped to 7-3 before chasing 210 to beat Lucknow in a remarkable season opener, with Axar cracking 22 off 11 balls.

He plays a floating role in the middle-order but should be regarded as a genuine batsman, having made a vital 47 off 31 in India's T20 World Cup final victory over South Africa last year.

The spinning all-rounder made his IPL debut in 2014 and his batting has improved significantly in the past couple of years, with all three of his half-centuries being scored since the start of 2023.

Axar's IPL career-best 66 came when he batted at number three in last season's victory over Gujarat in Delhi and he is worth chancing at a big price to lead the way for the Capitals with the bat.

Wanindu Hasaranga to be Rajasthan Royals top bowler - 3/1

Spinners proved effective in Sunday's game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Delhi's Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2-23 from four overs in the first innings of the match.

Kuldeep was upstaged by Mumbai leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who was named player of the match after taking the key wickets of Abishek Porel, KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs during Delhi's unsuccessful run-chase.

The Capitals face another dangerous leggie on Wednesday, in the form of Rajasthan's Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

He has vast experience of T20 franchise leagues around the world and should enjoy conditions in the Indian capital, where he looks a good bet to be the Royals' top bowler.

Nine of the 12 wickets that fell to bowlers on Sunday were taken by spinners and Hasaranga poses a major threat to the hosts.

He took 3-23 in his last international appearance, a February ODI against Australia, and claimed 4-35 in Rajasthan's win over Chennai on 30th March, dismissing four of the Super Kings' top five batters.
