The battle for IPL play-off places continues on Tuesday and Delhi Capitals are hoping to boost their chances of a top-four finish with a home win over in-form Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals - 8/11

Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural IPL title in 2008 and are determined to end their long wait for a second crown this season.

The Royals, beaten by Gujarat Titans in the 2022 final, have been the outstanding team in the tournament this year and should be backed to claim a ninth win in 11 games when they travel to Delhi.

Finishing in the top two ensures a favourable route in the play-offs so Rajasthan are unlikely to let their high standards slip as the regular season draws to a close.

The Royals' only two defeats in 2024 have both come in final-ball thrillers. Gujarat needed some explosive late hitting from number eight Rashid Khan to pinch a three-wicket win in Jaipur, while Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowlers staged a stunning comeback in last Thursday's one-run victory.

Rajasthan have a settled and hugely experienced team that offers great depth with bat and ball. 

Openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal pose a massive threat at the top of the order, but if they fall cheaply, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag tend to deliver the goods in the middle order.

Delhi have had far less consistency than Rajasthan in terms of team selection and results this year. Australia's T20 captain Mitchell Marsh suffered a hamstring injury, and his compatriot David Warner, the most prolific overseas batsman in IPL history, has been dropped after a run of poor form.

The Capitals have produced some stirring performances under returning captain Rishabh Pant, but they may struggle to improve their record of five wins and six defeats when they take on rampant Rajasthan.

One bright spot for Delhi has been a scintillating introduction to the IPL for Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk.

His ultra-aggressive approach and clean ball-striking have produced three blistering half-centuries in six innings, and he is worth backing to top-score for the Capitals.

Despite playing only six of Delhi's 11 games this season, Fraser-McGurk is third in the Capitals' run-scoring chart with 259 runs, behind only skipper Pant (398) and Tristan Stubbs (277).

His duel with Rajasthan new-ball ace Trent Boult should be one to savour, and the Royals' will be wary of Fraser-McGurk's record at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where his three appearances have yielded an extraordinary 172 runs off 59 balls.

Fraser-McGurk's last innings in Delhi was a brutal 84 off 27 deliveries against Mumbai, who fell just 10 runs short in a chase of 258.

Expensive bowling figures could also be a feature of Tuesday's scorecard, and backing over 22.5 runs to be scored in a single over is an appealing bet.

The Delhi-Mumbai clash featured nine overs that went for 18 runs or more including 26 in the Delhi innings and 23 in the 18th over of Mumbai's effort.

In Delhi's previous home game, they piled up 53 runs in the 19th and 20th overs of their innings against Gujarat, who slipped to a four-run defeat despite cracking 24 in the 17th over of the chase.
