Australia v India: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Australia beat India in last year's 50-over World Cup final and Rohit Sharma's men have the chance to avenge that defeat in their final Super 8 fixture of the T20 World Cup on Monday.

Afghanistan's shock win against the Baggy Greens has set up a fascinating finale to the Super 8 stage and the Aussies will be desperate to beat India in Saint Lucia.

Australia v India betting tips and predictions

Virat Kohli to hit most sixes for India @ 9/2

India and Australia were expected to make smooth progress to the T20 World Cup semi-finals from their Super 8 group, but the Aussies suffered a surprise loss to Afghanistan on Sunday.

That result has opened the door for the Afghans to qualify if they beat Bangladesh convincingly.

Rohit Sharma's men have ruthlessly seen off Afghanistan and Bangladesh in their first two Super 8 matches and they are 8/11 to beat 11/10 shots Australia in Saint Lucia.

India would love to play their part in ushering the Aussies towards the exit door after a painful defeat to them in last year's 50-over World Cup final.

Opener Virat Kohli could set the tone as he recovers from a lean start to the tournament. The Indian icon was dismissed for 1, 4 and 0 in three group games on testing pitches in New York, but he has got starts in both Super 8 matches.

Kohli scored 24 against Afghanistan, hitting fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq down the ground for six, and cleared the ropes three times in his knock of 37 against Bangladesh last time out.

Clashes with Australia tend to bring out the best in Kohli, who is worth backing to hit the most sixes for India.

He was the leading runscorer at this season's IPL, smashing 38 maximums in 15 innings, and could rediscover that form in batting-friendly conditions in Gros Islet.

Travis Head under 24.5 runs @ 5/6

Australia opener Travis Head scored a match-winning century in the ODI World Cup final triumph over India, but he looks worth opposing in Monday's 20-over rematch.

Head played some dazzling innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, before finishing the campaign with three ducks in his last four innings.

The left-hander scored 68 against Scotland in Australia's final group game, but that was his only major contribution of the tournament and he was dismissed for 12 against minnows Oman.

Head's aggressive approach means failures are inevitable and he fell for another duck in the defeat to Afghanistan, so India's in-form bowlers should be confident of getting rid of him cheaply this time around.

Pat Cummins top Australia bowler @ 10/3

Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins has written his name into the history books during the Super 8 stage, claiming back-to-back hat-tricks against Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Cummins, who captained Hyderabad to this season's IPL final, was rested for Australia's group wins over Oman and Scotland, but has excelled in their other games.

He took 2-23 against defending champions England, dismissing the dangerous Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, and is worth backing to be the Aussies' leading wicket-taker against India.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been Australia's standout bowler at the World Cup, but India's batters play spin better than most, so Cummins - who took 3-29 and 3-28 in his last two outings - could continue his hot streak in the Caribbean.
