Australia and England are two of the big three teams in this year’s T20 World Cup and they face off in this group game in what should be an enthralling clash.
England to win - 11/10
Australia and England have met 19 times in this format and with the pair both expected to progress from this T20 World Cup pool, a victory in this match may represent more of a confidence boost over a major rival than anything else.
Australia opened their campaign with a comfortable success over Oman in which David Warner starred, passing Aaron Finch as the leading runscorer for his nation in T20 history.
Marcus Stoinis picked up Player of the Match honours however after hitting an unbeaten knock of 67 with the bat before taking 3-19 with the ball.
England’s first game against Scotland saw them struggle with the ball as their opponents racked up 90 runs without losing a wicket in 10 overs before the weather intervened and the game was abandoned.
However England’s bowlers will feel fitter for that outing, especially Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who have been struggling with injury issues.
Jos Buttler’s men come into this clash as underdogs but may have been underestimated.
They are the defending champions in this tournament and were comfortable victors over Pakistan in their warm-up series.
England also have the upper hand recently in meetings between these two teams in this format.
They have won six of the last seven head-to-heads in T20I cricket and may well be overpriced to repeat the trick again in Barbados.
Phil Salt top England run scorer - 3/1
Phil Salt has cemented his place in the line-up as one of England’s openers in this format with some impressive performances in recent times.
In this year's Indian Premier League, Salt made 435 runs in 12 IPL matches after replacing Jason Roy for the Kolkata Knight Riders, hitting at a strike rate of 182 and an average of 39.54.
The opener made 45 in England’s most recent game, a comfortable success over Pakistan, in which Salt was his side’s leading run-scorer.
To add to that, the 27-year-old made two T20I centuries during England’s tour of the West Indies in December so looks set to relish these conditions and is fancied to be England’s top batter in what should be an intriguing battle between their batters and Australia's bowling attack.
Mitchell Starc top Australia wicket taker - 3/1
Mitchell Starc has been a thorn in England’s side throughout his career and the veteran has shown no signs of slowing down recently.
He took 2-20 from three overs in Australia’s first game, a comfortable success over Oman and the 34-year-old also starred in Kolkata Knight Riders’ Indian Premier League success this year.
The left-armer took 17 wickets in the competition as a whole and played a crucial role in the last two games in particular by taking five wickets, including taking 2-14 from three overs in the IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Starc picked up a slight knock after pulling up following his last over against Oman, but he has been passed fit for this game and will be chomping at the bit to play against his Ashes rivals.
Take the fast bowler to star for his country once again and be his country’s top bowler on Saturday.
