Having seen their Test match against New Zealand completely lost to the weather, Afghanistan will be desperate to show their class in an ODI series against a South Africa side missing a host of regulars.
This will be the first ODI series proper between the two sides and all three matches are day/night fixtures being played at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium.
The first ODI between Afghanistan and South Africa has not been selected for TV coverage in the UK, but you can watch all the action live on the bet365 Sports Live Streaming service.
Afghanistan v South Africa takes place at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in Sharjah and starts at 13:00 BST on Wednesday 18th September 2024.
Afghanistan and South Africa have met just twice previously in the one-day international arena and the Proteas won both contests in convincing fashion.
The two sides first played an ODI back in June 2019, when a World Cup match in Cardiff ended in a rain-affected nine-wicket win for the Proteas, who bowled the Afghans out for 125 and then knocked the runs off in just under 29 overs.
Their next clash was also at the World Cup, with South Africa winning by five wickets in Ahmedabad, India in November last year.

Afghanistan will be without Mujeeb Ur Rahman due to a hand injury, but star leg-spinner Rashid Khan is back in the fold, while the uncapped trio of Bilal Sami, Darwish Rasooli and Abdul Malik are included.
The Proteas are missing a number of leading players for the tour of the UAE which also sees them take on Ireland.
Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee and Anrich Nortje are all injured, while fellow fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is rested, as are left-arm spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi.
Middle-order batters David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen also sit out as South Africa play their first ODIs of the calendar year.
