Coventry City have agreed a deal worth £6million for Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock, according to a report.
The Sky Blues endured a chastening evening at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night as Frank Lampard's side were comfortably beaten 3-0 by reigning Premier League champions Arsenal.
Reinforcements are on the horizon between now and next Tuesday when the transfer window concludes, and Coventry are set to enhance their central defensive options with the signing of Pinnock.
According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Coventry are set to pay £5m plus £1m in add-ons for the experienced Brentford defender, who has 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Pinnock has been an instrumental figure in Brentford's evolution from Championship contenders to Premier League regulars.
Having plied his trade in the Isthmian League with Dulwich Hamlet for six years, Pinnock made a rapid ascent which saw him represent Forest Green in the National League before joining Barnsley in the Championship.
After the Tykes were relegated, the Jamaica international spent a full season in League One prior to being snapped up by Brentford in 2019, and Pinnock was a hugely dependable figure for Thomas Frank as the Bees won promotion from the Championship in 2020/21 before establishing themselves in the top-flight.
Making over 200 appearances for the west London outfit, Pinnock has found first-team opportunities increasingly slim and the centre-back only featured in eight matches in all competitions under Keith Andrews last term.
Pinnock will become Coventry's ninth summer signing and his leadership qualities will be a huge asset for Lampard over the course of the campaign.
