Last year's Grand National winner Corach Rambler is set to go off as second-favourite to take the honours in the Aintree spectacle for the second year in a row.
Corach Rambler was the sensational winner of the 2023 race as Derek Fox and Lucinda Russell teamed up to win the Grand National for the second time following One For Arthur's victory in 2017.
Owned by The Ramblers Syndicate, Corach Rambler cost just £17,000 back in November 2020 and the two-time Cheltenham Festival winner and Grand National hero has already provided a significant return on investment.
The 10-year-old now has the opportunity to join greats such as Red Rum and Tiger Roll by winning the grand event in successive years.
His early season form left a lot to be desired as he was considerably off the pace on his seasonal reappearance at Kelso, before finishing 15 lengths behind Royale Pagaille in the Betfair Chase.
However, a mightily impressive third-placed finish in the Gold Cup last month justifies the slight favouritism ahead of the likes of I Am Maximus and last year's runner-up Vanillier.
When asked about the Gold Cup performance, Lucinda Russell said: “That run has filled us with even more confidence heading to Aintree. Apart from the ground being softer than ideal, it couldn’t have been a better prep run."
