Since its inception in 1922, the Coppa Italia has been won by only 16 clubs, with another 10 reaching the final but never winning it.
Juventus are the most successful team in the competition's history, first lifting the trophy in 1938 and going on to win the Coppa Italia a record 15 times.
Despite having the services of the world's best player in Michel Platini, the Old Lady won just one Coppa Italia in the 1980s, and even their dominant sides of the 1990s only won two more, though they club did experience plenty of success in the 2010s with four straight wins between 2015 and 2018.
Roma and Inter are the second most successful clubs with nine each. The Giallorossi enjoyed their best spell in the 1980s, winning in 1980, 1981, 1984 and 1986, while Inter, despite winning the European Cup in the 1960s, won their first Coppa Italia in 1939 and their second in 1978.
Interestingly, despite being Italy's most successful club, winning the European Cup/UEFA Champions League seven times, Milan have only won the Coppa Italia five times, experiencing a lengthy draught between their fourth and fifth wins in 1977 and 2003.
The Coppa Italia final has been contested over one leg and two throughout its history, reverting to one leg for the 2007/08 season, which it remains as today.
