Conor Gallagher Next Club Odds: Atletico Madrid odds-on to sign England midfielder

Despite developing into an important player for Chelsea, England midfielder Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with a potential move away from Stamford Bridge.

An academy product at Chelsea, Gallagher was a mainstay in the Blues' starting XI last season and the West London club remain favourites to retain his services ahead of next season.

However, given Chelsea's vast expenditure in the transfer market under the ownership of American Todd Boehly, the Blues will have to be careful not to fall foul of the Premier League's PSR rules, with the sale of homegrown talents such as Gallagher one route of escaping these concerns.

New manager Enzo Maresca may not have the opportunity to work with Gallagher as a result, with the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid seen as potential suitors during this summer's transfer window.

A box-to-box player with an impressive engine, Gallagher is more than capable of chipping in with goals and assists from midfield and has also emerged as a leader at Stamford Bridge having worn the captain's armband on several occasions during the 2023/24 season.

With Aston Villa looking to add to their numbers ahead of their return to the top table of European football, it is no surprise to see the Villans linked with a player of Gallagher's talent.

Gallagher's dynamism and attacking thrust is also likely to appeal to Spurs' Australian boss Postecoglou, whose attack-minded style of play embraces midfielders making third-man runs in the final third.
