Conah Walker and Liam Taylor meet on Saturday night, with Walker’s British welterweight title at stake in Birmingham.
Walker (4/11) has emerged as one of British boxing’s most exciting fighters in recent years, with the Wolverhampton brawler picking up some impressive wins over the likes of Cyrus Pattinson, Lewis Ritson and Harry Scarff.
Indeed, many felt Walker was unfortunate not to get the decision in a ten round war with Belfast’s Lewis Crocker last June.
In the opposite corner, Taylor (2/1), unlike Walker, has been starved of opportunities in recent years.
A capable fighter, he has struggled for meaningful opponents since being blown away in two rounds by David Avanesyan in October 2021.
Still, he has picked up wins over familiar faces in Jamie Stewart and Sam O’Maison in his last two fights, but steps up in quality against a full-of-confidence Walker this weekend.

Although Conah Taylor does possess some of the attributes that have traditionally given Walker issues - like a solid jab and decent footwork - I feel there is an air of inevitability to this fight.
Against Scarff, Walker was comprehensively outboxed for large periods before landing a huge right hand to turn the tide in the eleventh-round.
I see a similar pattern against Taylor, albeit, I don’t feel it will take Walker as long to catch up with his opponent and I also feel he’ll be much more competitive than he was against Scarff.
For me, the fight ends one way, with Walker finding that stoppage somewhere in the second half of the fight.
