Our resident boxing insider Rob Tebbutt previews Saturday's showdown between Conah Walker and Lewis Ritson and tells us where the betting value in the welterweight contest can be found.
Conah Walker and Lewis Ritson square off on the Edwards-Yafai undercard in a welterweight bout that promises fireworks from the opening bell.
Walker has emerged as one of British boxing’s most fan-friendly fighters over the last 18-months and I favour his marauding, all-action style to be too much for Ritson on Saturday night.
While both men like to come forward and let their shots go, I think the most telling factor on Saturday night will be Walker’s natural size advantage.
Ritson was a good fighter in his heyday, but that was two weight classes lower, down at 135lbs.
I feel that at this stage of Ritson’s career, a bout with an aggressive, physical welterweight is a bridge too far and I’ll be looking at Walker to score a stoppage in the second half of the fight after wearing the smaller man down to the body.
I feel Walker to Win By KO/TKO is a little short at 4/9 and will be looking for extra value by playing the KO/TKO along with Over 5.5 Rounds as part of a Bet Builder at 2/1.
