Top Goalscorer Odds: Chelsea's Cole Palmer 7/2 to land Premier League Golden Boot after Everton masterclass

Cole Palmer's odds to win the Premier League Golden Boot have been slashed to 7/2 after the Chelsea starlet grabbed four goals in his side's 6-0 dismantling of Everton.

These four goals have taken Palmer's tally for the season in the top-flight to 20, alongside former Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland at the top of the pile in the Premier League.

It really has been a meteoric rise for 21-year-old Palmer, who only joined Chelsea from City at the end of the summer transfer window, but he has not looked back since.

Palmer's gamble paying off

Before this season, Palmer had never scored a Premier League goal and was seen as little more than a promising youngster at Manchester City.

However, after scoring in both the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup final for City in August, it was clear he was a player with considerable talent and he was keen to show that on the biggest stage.  

With chances likely to be limited at the Etihad Stadium, Palmer opted to join Chelsea, completing his move on 1st September.

In what has been a disappointing season for Mauricio Pochettino's side overall, Palmer has been a standout star, topping the charts for the Blues when it comes to both goals (20) and assists (nine).

He is, without doubt, the first name on Pochettino's team-sheet and his form has reached even higher levels over the last few weeks.

Stock continuing to rise

Palmer was already generating positive headlines prior to Chelsea's league clash with Newcastle at Stamford Bridge last month, but he added to that with a goal and an assist in what was a 3-2 victory for the Blues before he repeated that feat against Leicester in the FA Cup.

After not featuring in either of England's friendly matches over the international break due to fitness concerns, Palmer returned to club duty with a bang, scoring both goals in Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Burnley last weekend.

However, the stylish attacking midfielder fared even better against United, scoring his first senior hat-trick, with his final two goals coming in second-half stoppage time to turn a 3-2 deficit for his side into a 4-3 victory.

Palmer's sensational four-goal haul in Chelsea's 6-0 rout of Everton at home means the Englishman has become the first Blues player ever to score in seven successive Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge.

Netting the fastest perfect hat-trick in Premier League history against the Toffees - notching with his right foot, left foot and head inside 29 minutes - Palmer also became just the second Chelsea player after Didier Drogba to score back-to-back hat-tricks at Stamford Bridge.

Not only is Palmer now a serious contender to land the Golden Boot, but he is 9/1 to top the division's assists chart, with his current tally of nine leaving him just one behind the pacesetters in that regard - Ollie Watkins, Pascal Gross and Kieran Trippier.

Palmer is also 2/1 to win the Golden Boot in the without City striker Haaland market, while it is 16/1 that he goes on to be crowned PFA Player of the Year.

Of course, it is not just club accolades that could be coming Palmer's way, as the Euros are taking place this summer and, on current form, the 21-year-old looks a shoo-in to form part of Gareth Southgate's England squad for that tournament - he is 2/7 to make the 23-man list.

That would cap a memorable season for Palmer, who only made his senior England debut against Malta in November and he has two appearances to his name for the Three Lions.

One other string to Palmer's bow that could prove crucial for England this summer is his penalty-taking ability, as no player has scored more Premier League goals from the spot this season than the Manchester-born star, who has struck nine times from 12 yards, including twice against United.

Whatever the next few months holds for Palmer for both club and country, there is no doubting he is a star of the both the present and the future.
