In a remarkable career that has spanned nearly 40 years, Claudio Ranieri has managed 18 different clubs.
At the age of 73, Ranieri has announced his retirement after a superb firefighting mission with his boyhood club, guiding them from the bottom half of the table to the European spots.
Having spent much of his playing career with Catanzaro, Ranieri's first managerial job was with Vigor Lamezia where he spent one season before resigning and moving to Puteolana.
Ranieri's first big managerial break came with Cagliari, guiding the side to back-to-back promotions returning the club to Serie A.
It earned Ranieri a move to Napoli, who were moving into their post-Diego Maradona era. Despite finishing fourth in his debut season, a poor start to his second term saw Ranieri leave Naples.
Ranieri was tasked with returning Fiorentina to Serie A after their relegation and, spearheaded by Gabriel Batistuta, he did just that, going on to win the Coppa Italia in his third season.
After three seasons with the Viola, Ranieri headed to Spain, taking over Valencia and then Real Madrid.
The biggest move of his career saw him take over Chelsea, where he was the transitional manager for the Roman Abramovich era. Blessed with a new bounty of funds, Ranieri took the Blues to Premier League runners-up and UEFA Champions League semi-finalists, but it wasn't enough to stop Jose Mourinho from taking his job.
Ranieri then returned to Valencia but was quickly on the move to Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter and Monaco before what was perhaps the nadir of his managerial career. A four-game spell with Greece ended following an embarrassing 1-0 defeat at home to the Faroe Islands, with Ranieri drawing one and losing three games.
The Italian was then offered the Leicester City job. A surprising appointment for the side who narrowly avoided relegation the previous season, especially considering Ranieri's recent dismissals and resignations.
Incredibly, Ranieri guided the Foxes to the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals the following term but poor league form saw Ranieri dismissed.
From there, Ranieri embarked on a number of short-term jobs with Nantes, Fulham, Roma, Sampdoria, Watford and Cagliari, before returning to his boyhood club.
