Here are the latest betting odds for the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday 14th March.
(Odds will display when market is available)
In 2024, Galopin Des Champs wrote his name into the history books in the 100th Gold Cup, becoming one of just nine horses to win the prestigious trophy more than once.
The triumph for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend, who were both retrospectively crowned leading trainer and jockey at the 2024 Festival, came a year on from their 2023 Gold Cup win, resulting in back-to-back victories for the pair.
However, any racing enthusiast knows the difficulties associated with joining the Gold Cup triple winners club. The indicators demonstrate how it will be more challenging for Galopin Des Champs to win for a third time in 2025.
But by no means should this glory be deemed impossible, as Cheltenham Festival icons including Henrietta Knight's superstar Best Mate have previously proved. Best Mate won the race three years in a row between 2002 and 2004, cementing his position as one of the Cheltenham greats.
The excitement of this year’s Gold Cup is only further compounded by the rise of some highly-promising novices, who will almost certainly provide fierce competition for the 2025 renewal.
This includes Galopin Des Champs' stablemate Fact To File, who is also trained by Willie Mullins.
After taking the honours in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, Fact To File can be considered a strong contender for the 2025 Gold Cup.
Despite having a stamina level that some still consider unproven, the seven year-old is held in extremely high regard at Willie Mullins' yard.
Turners winner Grey Dawning, trained by Dan Skelton, is also a contender that should be watched, with many believing he has the potential to become a top-class three-mile chaser in the near future.
Il Est Francais has already demonstrated himself as one of the most exciting novices to watch, notably during the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, where he produced a spectacular round of jumping and claimed victory whilst simultaneously drawing comparisons with the very horse the race is named after.
The King George VI Chase could be a potential on his hit-list for the remainder of this year, with the Cheltenham Gold Cup potentially an attractive option if things goes well.
