Cheltenham Festival Day Three Tips and Predictions

2.10 Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle - Cuthbert Dibble @ 9/1
2.50 Ryanair Chase - Fil Dor @ 12/1
3.30 Stayers' Hurdle – Crambo @ 5/1

Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle tip

Cuthbert Dibble - 9/1

There is an obvious handicapping advantage in the Pertemps Final if you placed in one of the qualifiers rather than won one. While CUTHBERT DIBBLE landed his at Haydock, his rate of improvement may be difficult for the rest to stop.

A fine fifth last season off a fair weight in an EBF Final that is working out superbly, Cuthbert Dibble has returned a much-improved performer this term. He dotted up at Chepstow before qualifying for this with an easier success at Haydock than the half-length victory margin implied. He was idling when in front after having the race sewn up much earlier.

As first tries at three-miles go, that was an impressive one from Cuthbert Dibble. He is up to a mark of 139, but it is possible he makes up into a Graded performer before long.

Ryanair Chase tip

Fil Dor - 12/1

Siding with a horse who is only rated 151 is a risk in an open Grade 1 chase at The Festival, but FIL DOR has quite an interesting profile for Gordon Elliott.

He was one of the best juveniles around two seasons ago and found life tough lugging big weights in handicaps at five, indeed he ran off top weight in the 2023 Coral Cup when finishing midfield.

However, fences were always expected to be the making of Fil Dor and he is unexposed in this sphere.

That comment also applies to Fil Dor over this intermediate distance. He has been crying out for a longer trip and reinforced that impression when second to the top-class El Fabiolo in the Hilly Way. I've little doubt he is a 160+ horse. In a weak enough Ryanair, a performance of that calibre should be enough to see him be more than competitive.

Stayers' Hurdle tip

Crambo - 5/1

The Stayers' Hurdle field is packed with popular old-timers whose best years are in the rear view mirror. The 12-year-old Paisley Park is one of those and CRAMBO, who got the better of a pulsating duel with the star veteran in Ascot's Long Walk Hurdle when last seen 82 days ago, is taken to pull further clear of that rival given his scope for further progression.

He has been one of the most rapid improvers in training since his EBF Final strike and is a guaranteed stayer with a bit of class.

Horses arriving off breaks of ten weeks or more fair well in the Stayers' and he should be spot-on for the occasion. His stamina seems to be much more assured than that of favourite Teahupoo. In a war of attrition, expect Crambo to be there or thereabouts at a reasonable each-way price.
