We analyse the credentials and statistics of former undisputed super-lightweight women's champion Chantelle Cameron and Patricia Berghult as the two fighters get set to square-off in an enthralling bout this weekend.
A year ago, Chantelle Cameron was at the pinnacle of women’s boxing, as the only fighter to defeat Katie Taylor as a professional.
However, the Irishwoman gained revenge in the rematch, becoming undisputed super-lightweight champion in the process.
Now, Cameron is desperately hoping to secure a trilogy bout.
‘Il Capo’ can take a step closer this coming Saturday night (2nd November), when she battles Patrcia Berghult in a defence of her WBC ‘Interim’ 140lbs title, which makes her the mandatory challenger for her old foe.
Berghult is a capable fighter though, and one who previously held the WBC super-welterweight belt. The Swede will hope to disrupt the plans of Cameron and, promoter, Frank Warren.
But who will prevail?
Let’s look at the 'Tale of the Tape'...

Boxing, more than most other sports, possesses a strong recency bias.
Unfortunately for Chantelle Cameron, her most recent outing against Elhem Mekhaled proved to be more challenging and troublesome than may had expected.
There were mitigating factors, of course.
It was the 33-year-old’s first fight with Grant Smith, after splitting with, long-time coach, Jamie Moore, and also, after two mega-fights with Katie Taylor, it was perhaps difficult to get motivated for an opponent with far less prestige.
With most big-name rivals tied up at present, it is important than ‘Il Capo’ makes a statement this weekend to remind fight fans just how good she is, and to put herself back in contention for one of those sought after glamour fights.
When firing on all cylinders, the Northampton boxer is one of the best female fighters on the planet.
And with Taylor and Amanda Serrano set to do battle in their much-anticipated rematch in a few weeks time, it's imperative that she creates a buzz to entice the victor to face her.
If Cameron is focussed, her combination punching and accuracy could be the key to victory, which in turn, could be a step towards bigger things.
Strengths: | Weaknesses: |
Jab | Stays in range too long |
Dictates pace | Can be outworked |
Combination punching | Gets drawn into the wrong kind of fight |
Accuracy | Open to counters when throwing |
The plan for Chantelle Cameron and her promoter, Frank Warren, is to take step closer to a trilogy fight with Katie Taylor by defending the ‘Interim’ WBC belt.
However, Patricia Berghult has ripped up the script and ruined dreams before.
In 2019, the Swede upset the odds to capture the IBO and WBC ‘Interim’ super-lightweight belts against, Scot, Hannah Rankin.
Berghult has good fundamentals and is a decent counter-puncher.
That grounding has served her well, but was not enough to defeat Natasha Jonas when the pair met in a 154lbs unification bout.
The Scandinavian gave a reasonable account of herself, but the skill and accuracy of the former Olympian was too much to handle.
If Cameron is at her best, she should have too much for Berghult, however, if the Englishwoman overlooks her rival, an upset could be in the works.
Strengths: | Weaknesses: |
Moves in and out of range | Can be outworked |
Jab | Throws wide hooks |
Right cross | Can be drawn into a war |
Counter-punching | Open defensively |
