Championship best-backed teams and players

3/1 favourites Leeds United have been the best-backed team to win the Championship with bet365.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “‘Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again’ is a chant that’s often sung by opposition fans when things aren’t going to plan at Elland Road but bet365 odds compilers and customers alike are keeping the faith with Daniel Farke’s side as they go into the new campaign as favourites despite the three teams dropping down from the Premier League.

“51.7% of bets taken on the Outright market are on the Whites and many are backing Mateo Joseph to have a great season in front of goal despite never starting a league game for the club.

“The 20 year-old sits second in our most popular selections in the Top Scorer section with Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath leading the way with 26.8% of wagers placed having impressed with 16 Championship goals from 23 starts for Boro in 2023/24, including eight in the final six matches of the campaign.”

Championship

More than 50% of bets have been placed on Daniel Farke’s men succeeding where they failed last year, with punters anticipating a strong campaign at Elland Road.

Leeds came close to securing automatic promotion last term with a run of 12 wins and one draw at the turn of the year seeing them briefly top the table, but just four points in their last six saw them fall out of the automatic spots, then losing the play-off final to Southampton at Wembley.

The Whites are impacted by the losses of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville, but the cohort of relegated teams looks much weaker than last season, and Leeds have been well backed to win the Championship.

Burnley were certainly the strongest of the three teams who went up two years ago and look the strongest of the three teams who’ve gone down. Having kept much of their squad together, new manager Scott Parker looks to guide a third team out of the second tier, with the Clarets attracting nearly 20% of bets.

Luton took many sides by surprise in their maiden campaign in the Premier League last term, and despite a good run of form around the turn of the year, fell short in their fight for survival.

But like Burnley, they’ve kept much of their squad together whilst also retaining manager Rob Edwards, with the Hatters attracting nearly 10% of bets.
