In two of Haaland's last three seasons, he's been the Champions League top scorer, falling short in 2022 when the Norwegian played just three games as Borussia Dortmund crashed out in the group stage and it's hard to look past him being top of the pile this season.
To make a case against Haaland, he only played 2.75 90s in the group stages last season, but even that was enough to get five; a tally he doubled against RB Leipzig before reaching the final. The 23-year-old also missed a hatful of chances as he failed to open his account for 2023-24 in Man City's opening 3-1 victory at home against Crvena Zvezda.
But even if Haaland is top scorer again, there's plenty of each-way value to be had.
Harry Kane has been clipped in the market after his penalty against Manchester United. Haaland's team-mate Julian Alvarez is 40/1 into 20/1 after his opening game brace at the Etihad.
Jude Bellingham is another player to have his odds cut considerably with the former Birmingham City man now trading at 25/1 from 40/1.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Not only is Bellingham excelling in this more forward role, but he has gained the uncanny knack of scoring late on just as we think we’ve got Real Madrid chinned, and as a bookmaker, that is very frustrating!”
