Carlo Ancelotti in talks to be the next Brazil manager

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is in talks to be the next manager of the Brazil national team.

The 65-year-old has won three UEFA Champions League titles and La Liga twice in his two spells in the Spanish capital but he looks set to leave his role as Real Madrid manager in the coming weeks.

Real Madrid lost a heated Copa del Rey final to Barcelona on Saturday evening and they are currently four points behind their rivals in the league with just five matches remaining.

In his post-match press conference, Ancelotti said that his future was "a topic for the next weeks, not today" and he expressed his hurt at having lost the final.

"The team was good, we were close to winning, but we have to keep fighting. I have nothing to fault the team for. If we'd won, it wouldn't have been a scandal because we were better than our opponents in the second half.

"I'm hurt because we weren't able to lift the cup; there's nothing to criticise because we gave it everything we had."

Ancelotti will meet representatives from the Brazilian Football Federation on Sunday evening and it is believed that Brazil are looking to secure his services ahead of the Club World Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso is a leading candidate to be in charge of Real Madrid next season, while Jurgen Klopp has since distanced himself from the role despite being initially linked with a return to club management.

Many observers feels that letting Ancelotti go would be a mistake but Los Blancos have a history of moving managers on if success at the club falters, even for just a season.
