Spain will play host the Ryder Cup for just the second time in 2031, with the esteemed Camiral Resort in Girona being awarded the showpiece event.
The 2031 tournament - the 48th edition of the great sporting spectacle - will see the Ryder Cup return to the Spanish mainland for the first time in 34 years, at the venue previously known as PGA Catalunya.
The Ryder Cup last took centre stage in the country back in 1997 when the great Seve Ballesteros captained Europe to a famous victory over the United States at Valderrama, by a score of 14½-13½.
Announcing the news on Tuesday, Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive of the European Tour Group, said:
"Today's announcement not only recognises Camiral as one of Europe's leading venues, but also the considerable contribution Spanish golf has made to the proud history of the Ryder Cup.
The Ryder Cup has grown significantly since Spain last hosted it in 1997.

The 2031 edition will be just the fourth version of the tournament to take place in Continental Europe having also been staged in Paris (2018) and Rome (2023) as well as in Spain in 1997.
The upcoming 2025 Ryder Cup take place at Bethpage Black in New York this September, before heading to County Limerick in 2027, Minnesota in 2029 and Spain in six years' time.
Europe are the current holders of the Ryder Cup after their victory in Italy in 2023, but will be up against it on enemy territory this summer as they bid to reign supreme Stateside for the first time since 2012.
