Caldwell Potter brought up a half-century of Cheltenham Festival winners for Paul Nicholls after landing the Jack Richards’ Handicap Chase.
Caldwell Potter was ridden superbly by Harry Cobden, who executed his gameplan to perfection and led the whole way through the race.
Just when others began to threaten, Caldwell Potter jumped elegantly and he pulled away after the last to seal a comprehensive triumph ahead of 125/1 shot Anyway, who finished second.
Fetching £633,000 when he was sold in February 2024, Caldwell Potter is part-owned by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Reflecting on his 50th Cheltenham triumph, Nicholls said: "When you don’t have the horses, it’s a difficult job…he’s cheap now, isn’t he?
“It’s irrelevant what they cost, but we got him right."
